Mk2 VRS's and main dealers, are they outing to the trade deliberately

Featured Replies

Ok, so we all know the issues and the costs to the brand of issues etc etc.

I have suspected in the past that Skoda dealers are actively shifting the VRS's out of the approved used scheme.  But today when checking there is a total of 9 Mk2 Vrs models available from Skoda in the UK out of which none are Estates.

Could be a lull but it looks less likely based on the average stock say this time last year.......... but there are currently 60 for sale in the UK on autotrader

Out of under 3,000 vRS on the road in 5 years of UK sales,

there are about 700 Estates.

Not sure on the cost to Skoda CZ & UK,

but several hundred cars required Replacement Engines, & Breather Mods, Updates, DSG Updates etc.

It was not cheap.

So 1,808 of the vRS Registered in the UK were CAVE Engine, so last built late 2012.

The last ones are almost out of the Original Manufacturers Warranty.

so less than 1,200 with a Warranty still.

Not sure how many are estates.

The cars that were 2 years old were going Into Trade, off to Auction etc from 2012.

Autotrader used to have around 100 Hatches & about 15 Estates advertised and more recently nothing like that.

So it is a Discontinued Model now,

Some Dealers have sat for near a Year with Ex-Demonstrators and too high prices.

Resale Prices have been OK on the Used Cars, as good as other Skoda or VWG cars,

and most cars for sale find a buyer,

and a few are now in the Car Lot in the sky as they get written off.

Also this time last year dealers were offloading their demonstrators into the market. Now all vRS are 'privately owned' then people will be keeping them for a few years (unless you have an oil burner) and this will obviously affect numbers for sale.

Not sure how it affects the number for sale.

Some punted the bad ones without anything done under warranty and others got landed with them,

sometimes bought as 'Approved Used Cars' cars from Seat, Skoda, VW or Audi,

and needed to have fixed. or punted them.

Others have had good ones, sold or traded and maybe later they went wrong.

There are many more that are good than there are  bad, and as long as there are Original , Extended or After Market Warranties Volkswagen will be supplying Parts, Engines or coming up with fixes.

People buy or keep, but there is always buyers if the price is right.

Hopefully anyone going to buy one this weekend gets a good one and has some idea what to look for,

and be sure to have a long enough Warranty.

'Maybe not just a Dealer /Traders 3 month Warranty'.

Was at my local dealer a few weeks back whilst mine was serviced. Not a single mk2 of any kind on the forecourt, make of that what you will......

If anybody want a nice 25 miles,  Silver 2014 vRS Hatch,

a Skoda Dealer in Aberdeen has one with a £13,995 asking price.
