This was back when I first got it.

I still think you should get an 8 spoke wheel for it mate ;).

A vfr 750 one should slot right on. Just like it does on my vtec ;).

Nice ride !

I'm a big fan of large engine naked. Before the k1300s had a 1050 speed triple. Great piece of kit !

Finished for the day, took a good 5 hours and they're far from perfect BUT they're much better than they were. Going to hit up the rest of the bike in the week.

5 Hours!! Nice job Matt :)

I'd have given up after 1.

Any way, my top tip for cleaning stainless steel downpipes...

Wonderwheels.

Agitate with a paint brush and just watch as the tarnish and crud come off.

finish off with solvol and 0000 wire wool.

Parrafin, paintbrush and old rag for getting the black greasy stuff off.

Having got it all off, I now use MucOff Teflon chain lube. (used to be called Profilube) brilliant stuff. :)

The rest of the bike used to get done with MucOff, but I found a spray bottle of S100 and am using that up ATM.

Works well without sponging off.

Cheers, it was between this and the Speed Triple, I went to look at the Triple but came away with this.

Cheers! I read a good few different methods, at least now they're clean they'll be easier to keep that way.

I've done a few miles on it now, got it nice and hot and they are a more bronze colour when hot but seems to return back to this silver colour when cold, I dont think you can do anything to protect them from the dirt just give them a polish every few washes.

I got some Autoglym Motorcycle Cleaner, worked well, used it on the shock, engine and that. It did leave a few white-ish marks, even though I rinsed it all off, in the end I wiped the engine and bits over with a rag and ACF50. The bit that gave me trouble was the swing arm and rear wheel caked in grease from the chain. Seriously mucky, tried the moto cleaner, tried soapy water, tried everything. The only thing that helped a little was brake cleaner but I was running out of rags so put the bike back together and left it for now. I've been reading about Bilt Hamber APC that seems to be good for this kinda thing. Need some decent brushes too for getting in the gaps everywhere.

Cheapest cleaner of manked up chain lube I've found is paraffin.

Grab a tub from a garden centre and it soon gets if off.

Just wash everything thoroughly afterwards !

Took mine out for a local bike shop open day this morning - not ridden in rain like it for years. Rukka gear worked as it should but bike is filthy again.

They look sooo much better. I still hsvent got any decent pics of mine, but it is soo much better. Just alot more asthetically pleasing tbf.

Regarding the cleaning. I use some engine degreaser which has been in the garage longer thsn ive been alive i think, but its fantastic. Shifts anything.

Just had a look n its made by 'car chemicals' or something. Never heard of anything but its brill aha.

I agree with Madrunner, paraffin oil & a tooth brush & you are sorted. A very cheap way to keep your chain clean.
