Toyosport de cat knocking on subframe

Featured Replies

So I've tried everything to try and solve the issue I've put on new exhaust mounts, powerflex dog bone mount, new gearbox mount tried adjust the mountings. It catches on the subframe when pulling away and lifting off and back on the power and vibrates quite a bit. I've searched but can't really find anyone who has had the same problem. I might just get a standard cat and put that on.

Save up your pennies and get a decent downpipe, I got a cheap sports downpipe off ebay and had vibration issues with it as well, was vibrating on the heatshield over power steering rack. You could always go to a custom exhaust builder and see if they can modify your existing downpipe but they would probably try and sell you a full custom pipe.

I've got a Direnza, which I think is identical to a Toyosports one. No issues with clearance or knocking as far as I know. I run a Vibra-Technics dog bone with the stiffest arrangement, as well as the small bush at the front. The small bush might be worth a try?

There is an issue (or I've made it an issue!) with the flange being tiny compared to the standard CAT section, although the downpipe is of a bigger bore of course. Milltek make a decent decat downpipe, but I'm not prepared to spend £££ on one just to try it. Instead, I'm going to modify the Toyosports by grafting on an OEM flange. But I digress...
