  • The kit includes the stalks (they are a combined unit) the wiring loom (which includes the terminals both both petrol and diesel on it, but not the 1.2 HTP as I found out) and as correctly stated a BC

  • Doesn't say to take the dash out in the instructions, I'm guessing they can't read. Took them all day? Ouch that would have hurt, no wonder dealers don't like doing them.

Still rather pay the extra and have Ross do it tbh. He knows what hes doing.

I agree with this, brilliant work quality too.

Not really an option geographically unfortunately.

So quoted £330 parts, labour and VAT. very surprised at that. I've told them call it a flat £300 and I'll book it in. I wish I had looked into this earlier!

What additional bits are needed in the car apart from the control unit, is it just a different stalk on the left side? Does it have a speed limiter as well as cc?

The kit includes the stalks (they are a combined unit) the wiring loom (which includes the terminals both both petrol and diesel on it, but not the 1.2 HTP as I found out) and as correctly stated a BCM.

The BCM is included in the kit just in case, in reality as yet I have not needed one, but it is at zero cost in the kit anyhow.

I've not had any issues other than the afore mentioned incorrect terminal for the 1.2 HTP and all have worked coding with VCDS. A few lessons learned on the way, probably done around 20 or so of the post 2010 MY cars.

Worth having some tamper proof shear bolts handy as you have to remove the ECU security bracket to access the multiplug.

I'm aware the price I charge is comparable to a dealer price, however as said there are a lot of dealers that won't touch them, and I wouldn't be taking four days on one. About two and a half to three hours depending on the situation.

Dno whos that 1.2HTP might of been that was causing issues with the plug :D aha

After the experience I've had with Ross I can easily say that I'd rather go to him than to a dealer. All dealers said it was impossible. Clearly not as it took a couple of hours and the waiting experience was great too good laugh :)

And the further the drive the better.

As you get to appreciate the CC on the way back more...

I agree and a road trip is always fun.

Thanks for the info techie (Ross?) I would prefer a member to do it but logistically it's not an option.

Is a BCM the control unit?

I have decided I can no longer live without it!

Indeed, the Body Control Module is the one in the kit, and yes if you replace it you will have to reprogram the remotes.

Ill be honest. Im not a big fan of car or bike dealers. You take your pride and joy in, you pays your money and you dont know if its a monkey or someone who knows what theyre doing, doing the work.

You turn up at ross's. Theres no glossy broshures to fob you off with, just complete confidence in his work and extra time taken to do it that bit better.

Its a no brainer.

Ill be asking him if he can do a 2015 Yeti if my parents decide they want it.

Im just abit anal about quality i think. It takes alot to keep me absolutely happy with something.

Can you fit it on a VFR 800 too? Oh.. I wish lol.

I've managed to get the price down from £330 to £289 all in. It's booked in for Friday, can't wait now! I'll take both keys just in case they need them.

The part number of your BCM will no doubt be different to the one in the kit, doesn't mean it won't operate cruise control. Skoda don't know, hence them being included in the kit. But I would be surprised if it didn't work with your original BCM.

Isn't the big issue with 2012 models onwards - I was lead to believe that it is a simpler operation for earlier ones than this ie: 2010 and 2011 model years.

2010 onwards, ie the facelift.

Up to 2010 it was the same job as a MK4 Ibiza.

When you did mine, the dealerships all told me that they could do up to 2011 MY but not beyond as something had changed with 2012 MY onwards - I'm assuming that the fitting process is the same but you get a slightly different kit or part number (and I'm guessing at no new BCM - because that's the bit everyone seems to struggle with)

There is of course the possibility that I was fed a load of BS by people who just don't know or didn't want the work perhaps

Pre 2010 they didn't have a BCM, they had the same central electrics control unit as fitted to the MK1 Fabia.

In 2010 it changed as part of the facelift and updates. My Scout for example, a 2011 MY car has a BCM.

For some reason I was told by several dealerships that it was something to do with the 2012 MY (I know the facelift was 2010 onwards)- I did have a real run around the houses to get hold of that kit -like I said it could be BS lol

Do take both keys they needed both of mine!

As said they will do if they fit the BCM. However it's debatable if the BCM needed replacing, I doubt it.
