  • The kit includes the stalks (they are a combined unit) the wiring loom (which includes the terminals both both petrol and diesel on it, but not the 1.2 HTP as I found out) and as correctly stated a BC

  • Doesn't say to take the dash out in the instructions, I'm guessing they can't read. Took them all day? Ouch that would have hurt, no wonder dealers don't like doing them.

not a big job but not straight forward

you need to check what BCM you have first either via vcds or by looking at it

if you use the kaufatec loom (depending on what year your vehicle is ) its a case of running a couple of wires down to the BCM and then one to the ECU under the bonnet

genuine skoda kit comes with replacement bcm if yours is not compatible

both ways need coding afterwards

not a easy job but not impossible

did my 2015 roomster a few weeks ago with assistance from a friend at a vw specialist

Skoda just did my fabia for £325. They were supposed to do it in an afternoon but they had it for about 4 days!

That's excessive for a main dealer time wise

Start to finish about 5-6 hours it took us

Haha tell me about it! They had big problems trying to code it apparently. Kept having to liase with Skoda technical dept. and I think they had to install some new software in the end to get it working.

+1 great guy

Hi

I had cruise control retrofitted in March this year by the dealer Skoda Sandicliffe Ltd Nottingham for £330 fully installed including all parts and labor with a fixed price guarantee. The job took one day and I have been very happy with the results.

If you do decide to have it done take both remote keys with you as they will both need to be re-coded

Both keys to recode? Eh?

As above, they only had one set of keys when they fitted mine and I have no problems either.

+3 to that

tech1e only used 1 of my keys, and that was only to turn the ignition on from what i could gather.

This a quite popular question, I also would like it done. Don't fancy going to the dealer either.

Depends on what bcm is fitted to your car

It's not a particularly hard job awkward yes hard no

If you only need a switch and missed loom then parts cost depending on switch on eBay £70-90 kaufatec loom for polo 6r £30-40 total £100-130

It's only if you need a bcm you may run into issues doing it on the cheap

Tech1e has done quite a few quite a few on here. He goes the extra mile to do the job properly and neatly.

After seeing his work, its a no brainer going go him tbh.

After hearing so many good reviews about Tech1e I've booked in and having it done on the 26th :) can't wait one big regret when I ordered my car I forgot cruise control.

I have my tech booked into local Skoda dealer tomorrow for Cruise to be added, plus some tweaks in VCDS such as needle sweep and central locking changes. £292 all in! Not too bad.

Good price that!

If I'm not mistaken. You will need both keys if you change the BCM otherwise you will not need to do any key recoding

tech1e will know this.

But he only needed 1 key to do mine, and never asked for both in rhe event he might need to swap the black box

He did mine actually -I think it was the first 2012 (when they changed things) he'd done and after fitting the new BCM had all sorts of problems including no central locking. What he ended up doing was copying the long coding from the new BCM on to the old one and refitting it, which worked perfectly. The information on the kit availability from Skoda and the included instructions with the kit were very poor. I was very fortunate that Ross was doing the job because I think that a lot of other experienced techs would have been stumped. At the time I was told by most dealerships that it couldn't be done on 2012 Fabia/Roomsters but I found a dealership who knew the part number and would sell me the kit but wanted to charge me a full day's labour to fit it because they had struggled with one previously hence my visit to tech1e.

Mine is still with the dealer having been in since 9am today. They have never done a cruise control retrofit so a learning curve I believe. On the plus side I have a new fabia Monte Carlo in red to run about in whilst I wait, one of the first on the road I believe! Very nice vehicle and a definite step change in refinement. :)

What dealership is this? I really want this done and if I can get it at this price it's a no brainier!
