new car

Ordered  my SEL 110 fabia in 10/6/15 - nearly been a month. Cycling to work has lost its novelty, with being sworn at my audi drivers and giving them the two fingered salute in return..

Anyone know what is actual process is from ordering the car to delivery?

Am I on a list somewhere until it reaches mlada boleslav? how long does it take to actually build a car and get over here and how? anyone know the logistics?

Lead time was 8-13 weeks when ordered? Shoudl I assume a lot more?

I had my car built one month after ordering, another month for delivery (including over 3 week wait at the UK port) so I should assume the timing of your car should be similar.

All depends on any extra spec you have chosen and whether your dealer is on the ball.

It can take up to 12-13 weeks for a factory build to reach the dealer ready for collection.

Once it's built it's transported by train to the port of Emden in Germany where it sits until a shipping berth is available. Once it's on the boat the crossing only takes just over a day then it sits in another compound in the UK waiting for clearance then a transporter to the dealer, they should take about 2-3 days to PDI it, get it registered and taxed then it's ready for you to pick up.

My dealer told me that Skoda now use the bigger transporter ships instead of the smaller ones which means they can fit more on but on the flip, it means it's a longer wait for them to be shipped.

Mine took about 3 weeks from order to picking it up as it was already built and sitting at Emden, hope this helps.

That's great info guys. thanks gazbull - really helpful.

I have been told from dealer that they have no information on my car so I'm guessing it's not even being built yet.

I've ordered mine 06/04/15. That is about 14 weeks ago. It is being produced this week. The car is a full spec Style, 1,2 TSI DSG, similar to your SEL.

My wife ordered hers on 6/6/15 and got an email last week indicating build week 29 which is this coming Monday 13th July with a delivery of around the middle of August. Which would make it around the 10 week mark from ordering to delivery. Not bad if it is the case however I won't hold my breath, these things seldom go without some sort of delay somewhere along the line.

delivery mid august? I would ask for them to hold on to it until 1st September for the new reg, will be worth more as a 65 reg than a 15 reg at trade in time

I would think that that would be dependant on what the initial buying "deal" was, my wife has a Polo 1.2TSI SEL on order and when ordered it was quoted on the official order as a "15" plate car, I'm just hoping for some delays as the theoretical delivery time is indeed mid August, though on flip side, we will probably own the car for 8>10 years so final value will not be influenced much by that reg change month, also I was keen to get in and grab one of the final 1.2TSI 110 engines, so delaying delivery would have for us meant getting a 65 plate with a 1.0TSI 110 engine.

Well, I had thought about this. One of the potential problems being that we are trading a car in(for an agreed price based on August delivery), which would be worth less come the first of September as it would be one plate older? Also, we would be trading it in in three years time most likely so I don't think it would have an impact so much, it will still say first registered Aug 2015 on the logbook at the end of the day. For a private sale I think it would be a slight consequence of taking delivery in August, but that's not something we plan on doing.
