Waiting on a new Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've made an order for a new Skoda Fabia via a work lease scheme. It's a Skoda Fabia Hatch 5Dr 1.0TSi 95 GPF
StopStart EU6 SE L Black Magic - it should come as standard fit - the only extras I have paid for is for the colour being Black Magic and for electric windows to be added in the rear.

I've not even test driven a Skoda Fabia, but have been given lost of comments about how reliable and good runners they are.

This will be my first ever Skoda.

I'm excited and nervous about it... Just wish delivery would happen sooner. I got confirmation from the supplier that that the estimayed date  to be supplied to the dealership is 29/03/2018 and the estimated delivery date is 05/04/2019

I am aware it is probably my fault for such a massive lead/delivery time due to ordering the car during the dodgy time of between Christmas and New Year.

Anyone know if I could expect it sooner... Particularly as I've got the basic model... Nothing much added to the supply model standard.

And as a soon to be new Skoda Fabia owner... What lovely suprises do I have ahead of me

Cheers

X

My Fabia S EL took 40 days from order to delivery. I was amazed to be honest as they told me the end of January and I got it at the end of November.

I had five extras including a panoramic roof so that didn't delay anything.

My experience may have been a one off so don't get too excited.

The mpg is good and it's a nippy little car. You'll have to tell us what the surprises are when you get it.

It'll come when it comes,but I'm sure you'll love the car,I do.

My error... Estermated dealership delivery 29/03/2019 not 2018

Lisa, congratulations on placing the order. Don't be nervous, it'll all be fine! You may well get the car a few days earlier.

The Fabia is a great car and you'll have loads of fun in it. Just post often to let us know how you are getting on.

Happy times and ahead and a Happy New Year to you.

You are right to be excited as Skodas are excellent for build quality and reliability. Enjoy your new car, hopefully it won't be too long.

Sorry to put a damper on your expectations

Ordered a new Fabia SEL DSG with 5 extra's early August this year. Got a build date this month for end of Jan 2019 estimated delivery March 2017 (7+ months!!)

Wife got fed up and cancelled the order a few days before Christmas, local Skoda garage could not care less. Wife says goodby Skoda Fabia hello Ford Fiesta.

Still waiting for deposit refund!!!

Welcome, hopefully you will enjoy your car

When everyone is back from New Year, and caught up, during second week January, you should ask for a delivery date update.  29th March is last working day of a Quarter and some companies use these last day of Quarter as a holding date (rather than accurate date)

Hopefully will be bit earlier, but if delayed a bit, there is currently a risk of import paperwork problems if No Deal Brexit occurs (which could create further delays).

Small Claims Court!

I've got a similar lead time on my Ibiza, which I ordered on the 27th. I'm not too fussed, as I knew the lead times were long so got it all organised aiming to change cars around then! It's apparently due to production delays resulting from the changes to the emissions regulations back in September, basically all of European production is kind of backed up. VAG really dropped the ball with it!

Edit: should say, my Ibiza will have the 1.0 TSI with 115PS, so basically the same engine. I believe this is what's causing the delays.

Yeah.

Looking at the posts from others, it seems your right on it bring a delay caused by the emissions issues.

I just wish I got my act together and decided on getting a lease car sooner... My car has been on and off for a while and we kept waiting.... Now we are left with the long delay for the Skoda Fabia delivery and our cars MOT expires end of Feb... I don't want to run the risk of having to chuck a load of money at it to get it through its MOT and then get the new car a month or 2 later... So I think we are just going to try and sell it sooner and just have no car for a little while... And hopefully... Some luck might play on our side and we might get the delivery sooner than estimated.... Hopefully.

The Face Lift Mk3 Fabia was well know long before the issues with WLTP and the 1.0TSI engines and the Fabia were among the first to get WLTP Certification / Approval.

Models Approved much later do not have the ridiculous build dates and projected delivery dates.

Lets hope cars are getting delivered quicker and BREXIT causes no delays in April.

Also lets hope the Dealership Employees stop blaming WLTP if there is VW / Skoda incompetence.

Very odd that mine took just 40 days. I really do believe your Skoda dealer messed up.

I think you got lucky Rick.,...thankfully!

I don't think Brexit, what ever happens will delay cars much. In reality, there are few if any extra checks that will be made according to HM Customs. The Bank of England worst case scenario was frankly a ridiculous scare story that Customes Officials just don't understand.  France's trade minister has said their won't be any queues in the event of a no deal brexit. The head of customs said he can't understand why there is so much consternation about a no deal situation. Our trade with the EU will simply revert to WTO regulations. 60% of all our trade with the rest of the world comes into ports under the WTO rules with virtually no extra checks over and above the goods from the EU. You don't see any queues forming caused by checks being made on the majority of those goods coming into our country. So I wouldn't worry about cars.

TBH I don't blame you for cancelling. VAG group dragged it's feet over WLTP testing and it has held up some engines and their production. To be fair, much of the manufacturing motor groups have be slow to react. Part of the reason has been the need to make in some cases, quite major updates to the engines which has meant redesigning some serious bits of the engines. That's what I have been involved with recently for a major manufacturer. Amazing just how far behind some of them have been in doing a proper job, which is what I've been tasked with. Although some engines have been released with the 6.1 temp certificate, they have to get the engines up to speed with the full 6.2 certification.

in the telecoms industry we're worried about fibre, not because it will be subject to huge tariffs but because it will be caught up in all the delays and queues.  And that's because of what you describe as "simply" WTO terms. We will revert to those but it is much more complex than the way things operate today, it's all do-able but much more time consuming.

Come 11:01pm on March 29, 2019, every truck arriving from the UK into any EU port will need to be inspected. And that will involve physically opening those trucks, making sure that the paperwork matches the load, accessing the World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) list of tariffs, applying the appropriate rate — most but not all are at the 8 per cent-mark.

There are 164 nations that are members of the WTO. And everything that moves under the WTO rules are assigned numbers, all part of its “Harmonised System”. Basically, everything that moves is given at least a six-digit number that describes its category.

And it’s complicated.

There are 99 broad categories, which form the first two numbers, with sub-categories coming in the following four.

Here’s an example: 04 is dairy products, eggs and other edible animal products. These are then divided by adding more digits. So, 0403 would indicate it’s milk, or 0403.10 would be yoghurt, or 0403.10.11 would be low-fat yoghurt.

But if it was yoghurt made, for example, from goat’s milk, then the coding is different.

Yep, complicated. You get the picture. Now imagine every truck leaving the UK having to be checked, figuring out what’s on the truck, assign numbers — or if numbers have been assigned by shippers, making sure that those numbers are right. Then assessing tariffs — and tariffs are not the same on all products according to WTO rules.

That truck will then have to be placed under a customs seal, with that seal number recorded on paperwork and records, either electronically or by hand.

And once the customs officers are happy with that paperwork, the tariffs have to be paid.

Dom, yes indeed. It can be complicated and initially there may be some hold ups. But it won't be for very long. Customs has a very good established system for dealing with this. That's why the majority of trade we do with the rest of the world under WTO goes so smoothly. All the major ports are already working to WTO rules for most of the goods that come and go into and out of our country. They come and go quite seamlessly. The main issue will be the expansion of the system to accomodate all goods under WTO.

No need to turn any Potential Chaos into a Potential Crisis.

But these are Car Transport Ferries we are  talking about landing at UK ports and then maybe cars going onto trains or car transporters.

Maybe there will be other goods considered as more important to get into UK ports, or seeing as the UK Motor Trade is such a big deal to the 'economy of the UK' & the banks

due to 'finance' lending & borrowing priority might be given to the simple importation of vehicles.

The German Government will want their Major Car Manufacturers Imports and income to go uninterrupted and likely it might,

and maybe the Roads from ports might be a little congested.

As it is only time will tell.

New Reg cars PDI'd in February and delivered and Dealerships should be ready in March & April to get anything delivered First Registered and out and money in.
