Poor Radio Reception - Bolero

Featured Replies

Hi,

We live in a rather hilly city (Auckland, NZ) and have poor FM reception in our 2010 Superb Elegance (Bolero). No previous cars have had any issues with the hills and radio 'line of sight'. I would have thought with its 'diversity aerials' the Skoda would have great reception. Has anyone else had a similar problem or suggest a fix (aerial boosters?).

Thanks

Matt

Which radio is it?  The Swing one?  if so mine was also very poor.  never fixed as I've changed cars - I was looking to upgrade to a DAB radio.

It should have good reception with diversity as there are 2 diversity channels. One channel is always looking for a stronger signal. Your dealer can read the field intensity in measured values and diagnose whatever is causing the problem.

Its a Bolero, and even with no large hills in the way it loses reception very easily. Apart from this issue the Bolero is fine, and we don't have DAB her in NZ so keen to just get the reception issue fixed. I don't have a lot of faith in the local dealer being a radio guru but I will ask them if they can read the 'field intensity values' thanks Flapperjack!

The dealer has suggested they "check the aerial connections". Would this just be the connections to the head unit or are there other connections I can check (not keen on removing the head unit). Thanks
