galletto 1260 help

Featured Replies

So last week, i decided im going to give diy mapping a go. ive bought the galletto 1260 cable and software from ebay, and plan on buying the map from blacksmoke.

I have 2001 VW bora 1.9 tdi 115bhp

i seem to be having issues reading the ecu though.

At first, my pc didnt detect the cable, after a lot of fiddling and many hours search the net. . . i unscrewed the casing on the 1260, disconnected the cable from the board and reconnected. now my pc detects the cable and it automatically searched and installed the drivers.

put the pc in the car and connected everything up. when I try and read the ecu, it kept telling me to "turn off dash then on and try again" having done this several times I then get "error seed key" but not the usual sk1 as soom people experience with security usues.

i removed fueses 11 and 15 (but accidently took out fuse 16 and ow my airbag light is on! (that aside for the moment)). . . taking the fuses out didnt make any difference.

my pc is running vista, having searched the net ive discovered the software best works with xp, ive since uninstalled the drivers as windows had used existing drivers, not drivers that came with the disc. and ive selected the program (new serial) to run in XP compatability mode. ive not since tried it again but hoping to get onto it this afternoon. is there anything else that could be causing this issue? ive also massaged blacksmoke with the intention of buying a map file from them asking for helps and advice but ive had no response

thanks in advance

Unfortunately with cloned cables you are left to your own devices, and the quality is often poor. I wouldn't be surprised if this thread gets closed quickly.

Message the seller on ebay and get them to send you a new one.

panic over

noob mistake, i was selecting the wrong ecu type so was trying to read bora 1.9 instead of bora 1.9 PD! lol

I am not sure we have same policy for mapping stuff as we do cloned VCDS cables.  Something that's not been brought up before I think? :)

You will want to select EDC15 ECU which I think yours will be.

i was selecting EDC15 V ECU instead of ECU15 P ECU :/

anyways, its all sorted and ecu data sent, just waiting for it to come back with 145bhp 290lb/ft torque, 10% eco increase, hard cut limiter and launch control.

if i dont get on with the launch control, it will be removed . . .or if i decide to keep it, ill just flash it back for mot ;)

I mapped my golf 1.9 130 with this cable and software from blacksmoke. Extremely good and easy to do!!!!

Went for the 180 map and it transformed the car without affecting mpg when driven normally.

Highly recommend it!!!

i got the map yesterday, flashed the ecu . . . I can feel the performance difference, not as much as i thought i would, and theres a problem as launch control and hard cut limiter isnt working! so far ive had it upto 5100rpm and i was still wanting to go! ive messaged the guy asking him to take another look. if no joy then Ill be taking up blacksmokes but the guys had a house fire so is a little set back at the moment

Interested to hear how you get on.

I've heard some good things about the blacksmoke remaps.

I assume launch control can only be done on a manual gearbox and would require a DSG remap on a DSG?

for mine, launch control wont be switchable or as sophisticated as dsg. its simply just a rev limiter (usually 2500rpm) put in place when the car is less that approx 5mph but if wheels are spun withing the 5mph 2500rpm, the ecu with believe the car is doing greater than 5mph and remove the limiter causing more spin.

I may not get on with it but want to trial it out. can always have removed if no good
