Saturday Night Special at Santapod

Featured Replies

I've just found this thread, am I too late to join in for this? I was wanting to see what a nearly bog standard vRS will do.

If you'd come in at 5pm on Saturday, the answer would be YES. ;)

But as there's still 36 odd hours to go, drag youerself along. I think the idea is to just get there when the gate's open and we'll all find one another inside somewhere. If you see a Fabia towing a Seat, that'll be Boyced and myself. ;)

Remove the head unit, air vents, air con fascia panel, glove box, all carpets and sound deadening, spare wheel, boot carpet, parcel shelf, handbrake surround/centre console, engine cover, battery cover, badges including the centre wheel ones...

that sound like my Seat, but all that work was undone by sticking a ton of iron rollcage in :D

Change of plan for me guys i'll be there at 9am'ish  but leaving at 1pm :thumbdwn:

Got to go and view a car with my bro!

so theres no meeting place inside ? I am still leaning towards coming on saturday. I wont be running my car down the strip, but would like to meet up with some people. Are there many others not running?

One thing putting me off at the moment is it was really muddy last time I went and my car is sparkly clean at the moment.

Ill be there with my cruise fraternity and ill be ina black suzuki ignis sport, if anyone sees me come say hello.

See you all there. Jason, you have my number, please call me and let me know the plan for the morning mate.

thegavsters - there is a massive concrete/tarmac area the other side of the drag strip just keep driving round and park there, no worries about a muddy car! :D

Yeha, anyone is welcome. Myself and Boyced will arrive, literally in an inseparable convoy :D around 8.30ish, maybe earlier if all is well. :)

Nice to see Brisky alive again. Hope for a good turnout.

I had no idea there was a concrete bit. Well thats what I get for going with a barry boy

weather forecast looking good for tomorrow.Sunny but cold. Might pop over in the afternoon.

derek

Just off to sleep. Alarm set for 7am, and the hope implanted in my head that Boyced's postcode is in my Navman,.

See everyone tomorrow. I shall apologise in advance for those that inhale quantities of my exhaust smoke. :)

Weather not good here at 7.25am folks.:thumbdwn: Heavy frost and fog at the moment but hopefully this will turn to sunshine later:)

derek

bloody cold out!

Had to give this a miss people. Sorry.

Was good meeting everyone!

Jase, Shifty, John and all the others who i did'nt catch there names :o

So what did everyone else get ? Apart from a knackered driveshaft :D

I managed two 16.9 runs  which i think is crap!

I reckon i could get a 16.5 easy if i did'nt have 1/2 tank of diesel :uglyhamme mind you i had a full interior and a spare wheel unlike some ahem 'cheaters' ;)

Got some pics and vids to put up later tonight, got a vid of John beating a 200sx by 1/10th of a sec, well done mate

I just though I'd add my two penneth here too. I had a great time yesterday, and again it was good to meet the chaps from here.

First time ever on the drag strip, and I've woken up this morning comtemplating when I can next have a go.

Time wise I got 16.58 best run. My car's standard apart from a cupra pipe and filter, and I was running with a full tank of fuel, full interior, my 15lb bowling ball and my not inconsiderable 20+ stone frame behind the steering wheel. So I'm bloody well chuffed with that result.

Best fun was head to head with a standard Golf 130pd (the driver's description), which I just managed to squeeze past. It was only after I parked up that I was told by Jason, John and Rob the Golf had a suspicious silver thing shining from under the front bumper. Don't trust Golf drivers, they tell porky pies, standard my ****....... Oh that and the fact that I upset some Clio 182 boys by running faster than them too.

Next time I'll get there first thing and get some runs in the morning, seeing as I didn't actually arrive until just after 1pm. Oh and the Jet car was spectacular, 6.29secs at 269mph....

It was a good day, nice to meet some more folks. Don't think i met you reffro, although i kept seeing you in the ever increasing queue.

Best time, minus rear seats and spare, was 15.4, which i'm more than happy with.

Looking forward to next time, once my eyebrows have grown back after the jetcar gave me a turkish shave.

Hope you got home ok Jason/stiffler.

Snap Shifty, we never seemed to be in the same place all day, saw you running though, laying down your own smoke screen to confuse those behind you.

Was good fun and a great atmosphere!! don't think I actually saw anything run with my own eyes, was all through a camera! haha!! got some pics of you reffro, even tho I don't think I met you either!!

Was good to meet some new faces, boyced and jase and all the others, sorry cant remember all your names!! :D

wish I could have stayed longer for the night racing, that was amazing!!

Was great to meet everyone - even though I now have a temperature of 102 and feeling as bad as yesterday.

(Damn it - why can't I be ill during the week)

Will be driving at the next one - anyone got an old wreck I czan borrow

And really bad luck Jason - hope you managed to get it home OK.

great day out - more in October?

Hopefully get the right wheels on for next time and get some better times.:thumbdwn: maybe time for those mods:rofl:

The last run of the day was the worst, I spun the wheels for the first 60 yds as the track was damp. (lot of wheel spin for 54bhp and very nearly a sideways moment)

Some serious and fast metal there! Feel sorry for the guy in the mini tho, Jason only did a CV, this guy did a whole CAR!

Had a wicked time. fastest time for me was 15.68. Could not get the power down.

Fastest last time was 15.64 with 3 less bhp and the car was full. nice to meet people although spent so long quewing that i hardly saw some people. if i didnt see you, hi.

i was talking to some one about a vidio posted on the seat owners site with a furby raceing a renow sport v thingy. I cant find it but would love to see in. If any one know, please help me.

talking of seats, had a great race against one, missede 2nd to 3rd change and lost out. gutted. I think it would have been a better time.

rob what car have u got?

What a day. Had a great time even though I lost every race. The strip is so much better than york dragstrip. The downside with santa pod is that your racing anyone. at york cars are put into categories so its more competitive.

Half of the races I was racing cars that had twice the power. Next time I wont come with a full tank, and a car full of gear while I will fit my smaller suzuki alloys.

How much would it cost for 2 tyres racing slicks, 185/55r15?

So did Jason's car break?
