OK - Just realised a possible faux pas on the horizon...

HOW MANY WISH TO STAY ON FOR THE EVENING'S ENTERTAINMENT?

It costs £10 for RWYB entry and £20 for Running on the strip.

BUT, if you want to stay for the evening, you have to pay £20 to get in to RWYB on the door, or £15 in advance, with £1 booking ticket.

ANYONE STAYING FOR THE SHOW AS WELL?

So how many people are going now? What time are you all getting there and planning on leaving?

Getting there for 8.30 / 9am. Not sure when the runs will be. Will try to get in as many as possible. :D

Its the evening thing that worries me now. As we can all save £4 booking a ticket in advance if people wish to stay for the dragsters in the evening. I would like to, but not going to on my tod. :)

I think there's 4 or 5 others going now, maybe more. But its this "saturday night special" thing I need to clarify (after all , its the topic subject for this thread...)

What about a meet up beforehand?

Anyone know where the nearest services are?

Also doubt I'll be able to stay late - but will be there most of the day

Trouble is, the RWYB finishes around 6, and if you want to stay on for the evening viewing, you need to pay an extra tenner on the gate, or book in advance for £15 (+£1 fee) - so it costs £6 (or £10) to stay. Otherwise its just the RWYB, and nothing for the "Saturday Night Special"

No services to meet en route sadly. Could meet up outside Wellingborough, but I could yet be lending Boyced a helping hand on the morning. :)

ay, if u don't mind...

Problem is the Seat's MOT has expired, only found out this morning when I went to tax the ol' Girl, luckily I haven't used her on the road for a month! she needs a new windscreen so thats booked in for Monday, otherwise i would have tried to MOT/Tax her before Saturday!

Actually, can I still running a car thats got a crack in the windscreen?

Its the evening thing that worries me now. As we can all save

If someone else is I will book a ticket NOW. :D £4 saved is still £4, unless you book two tickets, and I pay you back. Then its only 50p each fee ;) I'd be happy if you were OK with that. I really wanna stay for the evening thingy as well. :D

Did you want me to book 2 tickets? Anyone else staying for it? Get hold of me by 9am tomorrow, as that's when I think we should book them. :)

More that get in, the further that £1 fee gets split down between people. ;)

More that get in, the further that

Not sure what time i'll be getting there for certainly not 9am as i have an hour and half drive, I will be staying the majority of the day though!

Just realised i still have 3/4's of a tank left  Got to take all my stuff out, roofbars off, spare wheel out etc gonna be busy tomorrow night :D

Jase are you bringing a spare clutch then ? :D

Boyced - Yes you can run your car, some drag cars don't have windscreens let alone cracks in them

I just went to see the price, and looks like they are charging £1 per ticket for booking! Is that right?

Yeah, its per booking - so if you get 5 tickets its still £1 fee. So the more you get the further that £1 spreads. ;) NOPE. edit Ignore that, it is per ticket up to 5 maximum. So we may as well get our own tickets then if we wanna save £4?

Matt - I think my JBS Kevlar faced 400 lb/t clutch will cope. ;):D Looking forward to giving it some abuse though.

By the way - they say its best to get there before 9.30am to avoid being left out. The slots book up very quick it sounds like and it would pay to get there at 9am. Boyced - We're gonna get there abou 6.30am right, under the cover of darkness? ;)

Yeah thats fine with me ;)

Tell you what, I'll pay for your entry and dragster thing to pay for all the running around...

Yes mate, I'll give them a bell tomorrow, the website wants to post the tickets out. Doubt they'll be here in time...

Just been over to joels to get the towing thing, is a big metal bar that connects to the towing eye's...

Hmm. ask them to keep the tickets in the booth or something. They must be able to do that - Or simply reserve them on numberplates / model of car?

Nice one on the towing rod - At least then it will be legal as can be.

Hmm perhaps they've changed the amount of cars that can run ?!?

Last year all you did was turn up, fill in the form pay yer money and away you go, might of changed it for the better as sometimes you had to queue for an hour between runs !

Well, maybe the site is just there to discourage people from being too relaxed and perhaps they want to get the hassle/admin of disclaimers and stuff sorted out quickly in the first hour or so?

Anyway - I'm there nice and early anyway. Can't really meet up on route as I'll be dragging a Seat behind me.

Removed another 2kg of unecessary weight out my car tonight, Pretty sure I can live without rear speakers for a while. :speaker: Also other crap out the boot has been put inside. Car is super light now - couldn't get it lighter without resorting to angle grinding bits out the chassis.

couldn't get it lighter

join the club! Actually, you could remove the air bag from the steering wheel, took mine out! Ordered a sparco deep dish wheel, but its taking ages.

Hmmmm. You have just reminded me about another 2kg I could remove. Wonder if its worth going out in the rain to do it? YEAH, COURSE IT IS!

1 small item. Small enough to weigh on my scales - 2.3kg. best bit is it doesn't need to go back in again. Time for dry storage. :D

Remove the head unit, air vents, air con fascia panel, glove box, all carpets and sound deadening, spare wheel, boot carpet, parcel shelf, handbrake surround/centre console, engine cover, battery cover, badges including the centre wheel ones...

Have you done all this J? If not, it could mount up to literally grammes!

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Plastic is staying in! :P

Unless something metallic and heavy is bolted to it!

I've finished now. I expect now I'll get about 70mpg on my journey tomorrow afternoon. ;) hehe

I've just found this thread, am I too late to join in for this? I was wanting to see what a nearly bog standard vRS will do.
