IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING MSB SKODA DARLINGTON

Featured Replies

Hi, I've decided to post this here as it's the area where most people look at so will attract the widest audience from all models.

So, backstory: My dad bought a Monte carlo a couple of months ago from MSB Skoda in Darlington and then not long after purchase the service light came on. He looked in the book and the last time it was serviced was at 9000 miles (it had done 18000 when the light came on) he didn't have time to get it booked in at MSB so booked it in at VASStech and had it serviced at the cost of £150 plus they said the handbrake wanted looking at. He then rang MSB and told them he wanted paying for it and the handbrake looking at free of charge as it should not have been sold as it was to which they agreed. He took it in on the agreed date and they looked at the handbrake and said they didn't remember saying anything about a check. So of course all hell was raised and they eventually said they'd send a cheque in the post.

Main story/important part: A few weeks have now passed and earlier today my dad rang them up to ask where the cheque was, the woman on the end of the phone said she didn't know but would put him through to the manager. She puts him through to the manager and the manager says hello I'm xxx from Bristol Street Motors. My dad asks what's going on and he explains that MSB Skoda have recently been bought out by Bristol Street Motors.

Now the interesting part: According to that guy MSB skoda have been selling cars AS SEEN WITHOUT SERVICING THEM for YEARS. Also they haven't paid MSB Skoda in full for the garage yet and we're not the only people to have complained to them about MSB in the last few weeks. So, if anyone here has bought a car from MSB Skoda recently I would urge you to get it booked in somewhere and have it serviced thoroughly and report any issues to BSM while there's still a chance that something can be clawed back from MSB. The guy from BSM was great and said he couldn't promise anything but took details and said he would get back to us as to weather we can get the £150 we were owed.

You'd really need to raise this with both Skoda UK and the local Trading standards.

Id be onto skoda uk first. They should sort it. Your their customer too

Unfortunately, Bristol Street Motors would hardly be a step up in customer services from my experience. I was reliably informed by their service manager that my camshaft required tensioning at 60k miles. :D

Had my superb in there on Friday and have to say the customer service I enjoyed was very good. In particular Tracey on reception was very attentive and the car was ready quicker than promised.

I bought one from there in December 2013. Are you saying that this only applies to used vehicles bought there? My car's in there on Friday for a service.

Maybe I am missing something, but if you bought a car that should have been serviced and it wasn't, shouldn't it have gone back to the dealer for a service.

There wasn't time to book it in for a service at the supplying dealer, but there was time to book it in for a service at some other garage?

How does that work?

he didn't have time to get it booked in at MSB so booked it in at VASStech and had it serviced at the cost of £150

If you'd had time to take the car to the supplying dealer for them to rectify then there wouldn't have been an issue or any refunds to sort out.

If you chose to take it elsewhere then I suspect that was your decision, they just told you they'd pay to keep you happy and fob you off for a bit.

Or am I missing something?
