I will certainly be watching this when it comes on.

As you say, he is a legend. To think as well that TV is his third job (and well down compared to his day job as a truck mechanic and his second "job" of bike racer)

"Proper"

damn it, Bonneville was on the list for this year but we chose dubai for the F1 instead and plan on doing it next year

can;t wait to see this as guy martin makes superb TV.  Met him at a trackday at the ring last year and he really is a nice bloke.

Reading his autobiography at the moment; very interesting book.

Agreed; it you're reading this thread and haven't read "My Autobiography" then you should.

Have to agree on this - reading the autobiography makes you understand a bit more about what makes him tick (and get ticked off!).

Still wonder who Mr x is though...

I was watching him last week at the Southern 100 races, always performs better there than at the TT. Always has time for you, and is a really nice guy ( play on words).

Any comments on his Wall of Death record breaking, on Channel 4 last night?

Probably one of the best bits of TV about recently. (but I don't watch much ) Kids should watch it for the physics at the beginning, I wish my lessons were as interesting.

I've just noticed that this is being covered already elsewhere, so sorry!

For me, it looked like Guy is probably being used by channel 4 "the new presenters of formula one" - which is fair enough but it, to me seemed to remove a lot of his credibility to provide a dumbed down event.

My main concerns revolve around what you are calling physics - but I would have hopped that for that record to stand or be valid, the internationally accepted size of "drum" should have been used - when you increase the size of the drum, for the same speed the G forces are reduced.

A quick update, looks like things are going to plan.

Guy Martin sets new Triumph speed record

Guy Martin has piloted the Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner to a new record during practice for the team's world land speed record attempt in late August, by becoming the world’s fastest ever Triumph – achieving a speed of 274.2 mph.

The five-day test is now complete, with the record attempt scheduled to take place in the last week of August, when the team will return to the Bonneville Salt Flats with 400 mph on their minds.

Awesome. Can't wait for this. Might watch 'The World's Fastest Indian' again to start setting the mood.

Sunday Night 4th September Channel 4,  Series 3 of 'Speed'.

That's not a motorcycle; that's a very narrow car! ;)

How many wheeks?

Apparently Guy has had a biggish crash. The report says he is OK but it doesn't say how much damage the 'bike' has taken on.

Crash linky

The team seem to think they can continue so hopeful they will get another shot at the record? Guy looks to be unscathed and ready for another go.

Just a quick reminder, the program about Guy's attempt on a land speed record is on Channel 4 Sun 09 Oct, 8 pm, World's Fastest Motorbike.

then switch over to BBC2 for Sir Chris Hoy's 2016 Le Mans 24hr race
