Featured Replies

Hi I have a 1.2 Fabia, it turns out the ABS unit is not working and i need a replacement, Ive benn qouted about 200ish Euros min possible more to send it off the be refurbished and will take 10 days for part to be away not including removal and refitting costs (I live in Spain so this also brings up some problems) Im aware that different models were used on the fabia. Im looking for a 2nd hand or refurbished part online as well as local but the scrtap yards here are not as helpful as back in uk. I have the part number of my ABS does it have to be this one or is there a compatable one out of the many they fitted here is my part number 6q0614117Q any help or advice would be great

Please check it before spending any serious money. If you read through that thread, you'll see that a large number of people have saved themselves a lot of cash just by lifting up that lid and having a close look at that fuse.

Are there any error coded on the ABS controller?

Happy to have helped.

Fuses, gets them every time.

However if you do have problems with the ABS unit please remember that the unit can be separated easily into the two parts, one is the hydraulic block & the other is the electronic/solenoids. The solenoids is the one that fails usually due to a dry solder joint. However in my case a main processor chip had failed, so new unit!!!!

The fuse usually cracks rather than blows electrically.  Probably something to do with the plastic of the structure under it expanding more with heat than the metal of the fuse, causing metal fatigue over thousands of heat cycles, or maybe just an engine vibration that this particular area of the fusebox resonates to?

It's a very satisfying fix to what looks like an expensive problem, whatever the 'deep' cause may be.
