Stolen silver Octavia vRS - OY52PTU

Featured Replies

Hi from phil99387, I have registered inthe hope that someone out there

may spot my silver Octavier vrs reg OY52 PTU stolen with keys in a

burglary from my home in Buckinghamshire on 26th Oct.

Any info would be very much appreciated. I had only had it 5 weeks !!!.

Regards.

The bar stewards ...sorry to hear that ...some one on here had one stolen the same way not long ago ......turned up parked not too far away in a trading estate I think ..........they left it there for a while to see if it had a tracker system fitted before moving it on.

Hope you get it back soon

Hope you find it... not the first time this has happened.

We have spates of these nowadays.

I would advise everyone to keep all your car keys in your bedroom at night.

Do not hang keys in view of any windows.

Keep spare keys upstairs (or in a well hidden place)out of view

If you have a particular vehicle they are looking for (high performance or value) then they will watch to you to see where you put your keys when you get home (at this time of year it is often easy to see inside your house with the change of clocks etc).

Anything that makes it more difficult will help to move them on to an easier target.

Obviously if they really want the car they will have a go but generally they are looking to do a very quick break-in and then make off with your pride and joy.

Regards

With the greatest of respect mate - crap.

If they want to nick your car and they want the key, which these days they do, then they'll come into your bedroom and beat the **** out of you, your wife or your kids (or all of you) untill they get them.

Thats why I pay insurance, if they want it take it - I don't want to get filled in just for a car.

Leave them downstairs, obviously not in a very obvious position and not within reach of the letterbox. Let them find the keys before they find you.

This used to be a comon subject on Scoobynet with people doing all sorts of silly things to try and hide their keys.

Anyway back on topic.

Sorry to hear of your loss mate. I think the Octy RS is going to become the weopon of choice for a lot of thieves in future. Too many Scoobies and Evo's have trackers now so they need something else which is quick. The Octy is also a little understated in it's looks and attracts less attention.

Was going to suggest TWOC but I see you already have it listed

My keys are next to the dogs bed. If anyone wants them!!

 But he looks soooooo cute, surely not a wolf in sheep's clothing? ;)

I personally think a potential thief will be put off by the knowledge the house has a dog of any kind, more for the "alarm" effect than the fact it will bite your arm off and beat you with the stump. They'd move on to another target I suspect.

Good luck in finding the octy - word of mouth like this forum and others are a powerful force nowadays.

A big sign on the back gate or window saying beware of the dog is enough to put off opportunist thieves. They drive around looking for a target.

Where there any mods on the Octy as the reg may have changed. (like wheels or anything)

Glad to help advertise your loss. Let's hope that you get your car back intact.

I agree with Stu. I don't know how desirable Skodas are to car thieves and what lengths they'd go to, but when I had the scooby the car keys stayed downstairs (but out of sight of windows and letterbox). With Cat 1, disklock and tracker the only way they could steal the car was with the keys. If they wanted it they'd get it. I know too many people who had their front door smashed through and family threatened. I decided at a base level it was just a lovely heap of metal and not worth getting killed over, so keys were always left downstairs.

The tracker was a waste of money as well but necessary for insurance. I wouldn't want the car back after somebody had driven it like Solberg from cold and mashed the gearbox up.

Anyway, best of luck and I hope you hear some good news soon.

Thread retitled and moved to The Motorway for greater visibility and impact.

Where abouts in Bucks??

Made a note of the reg being as I am around that area, hope it all gets sorted

Thanks for all your messages, yes they broke in the front door grabbed

wifes handbag, laptop and car keys and were gone all in about 30 secs

AND we have 2 dogs !!!. Location was Aylesbury Buckinghamshire

I'm an Aylesbury lad. Will keep my eyes well and truly peeled (although I should think its 'out of area' by now).

Hope they catch the scum.

I'm an Aylesbury lad.

Just up the road from me

Vist Aylesbury quite often and surrounding areas so i'll keep me eye open

Quick post to keep this on front page! So more people can keep an eye out. You never know. But do you really want it back? A friend of mine got his cavalier 130 stolen. Got it back and after 3 months the suspension failed and he had repeated problems with the engine. Good news though hegot rid and got a Skoda!

BTT

I hope it turns up for you.

Phil

Sorry to hear about the VRS..

Octygone makes a good point - it could well be cooling off in a nearby council estate - so if you it may be worth persuading a friend to go on a local tour as I doubt the boys in blue have much time or resources to find it until the local Council reports it up on bricks...

Sadly Octys are becoming too attractive hence I keep a low profile by taking off the external 4x4 turbo badge and sticker.
