I'm a sat-nav numpty

Featured Replies

Just wanted a little help with my Navman 630. Its a brilliant unit but I'm struggling with a couple of things.

1) memory: not sure what it takes but I'd really like a bigger card in it than the 128 card in there now. Can't see what type it is. Ebay mentioned "SD memory" but not got a clue where I could source a 512mb card from so I could store much more on it.

2) Extras: It has no GATSO type info stored, which got me thinking there might be add ons I could upload to the unit using the software it comes with? Currently it shows things like garages, P.Os, etc but nothing on speed cameras/danger spots.

edit: I think I've found what SD is - Secure Digital, and seems to be for digital cameras usually?!

Jason,

Cheapest place I found for SD cards for my Sandisk Ultra II was:-

www.7dayshop.com

Not too cheap, but think how much info you are asking them to hold, so get a good one.

The Gatso type info can be downloaded free from:-

www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk good luck with it as I tried and could not get it to work properly on my Mio 168 with Tom Tom 5, but there again I am probably the same as you in that field.

Is there a V3 mod for mine I wonder? :D

I think that requires a majorly expensive upgrade :(

Unless I misunderstood the phone rep at Navman.
