UK Launch, what do you want to know?

Featured Replies

Off to Scotland next week for a look at the new superb.

What do you want us to ask, look at, capture, poke or prod?

Looking at the forecast, I suspect the windscreen wipers will be well tested, so what burning thoughts do you want answered?

A full report with pics will be following / during the event.

Let me know any questions and I'll do my best to discover the answers :D

  • Off in a few minutes to Luton for the hop to inverness, hopefully a clear night tonight. I've got some ideas for photos if I can find a good spot tripod packed!   If hotel has wifi then I'll post b

  • Well the MKII was a 60+% share to the estate. Predictions are the MKIII just as much if not more given the estate was late to the MKII launch.   Depreciation, good numbers were put up from CAP, IIRC

  • Press pics are in the gallery.   http://www.briskoda.net/forums/gallery/category/20-superb-mk-iii/     Been set back by life events, was hoping to have a few answers from Skoda too on odds a

Hi Colin, this sounds like a great opportunity.

I'd like to know:

a) How good is the Canton stereo? Whats it like?

B) I was excited about the really soft ride, and disappointed to hear they may have retuned it due to feedback. Whats it like now?

c) Whats the lead time likely to be at the end of August for an L&K 190? (its when I'm ordering!)

d) I read its quiet, but how quiet?!

e) I think I want silver with the 19's - if theres one there any chance of photos? Any feedback from anyone on driving with 19's? All the test cars seem to have 18's.

f) This ones pretty geeky. Im ordering SmartGate primarily for the SKODA MotorSound App - could you download it and have a go? I'd love to know if its any good!?

Thats it from me! :)

if opting for ventilated seats on the L&K can black upholstery be spec'ed ?

Hello Colin,

I have a couple of specific questions that I'm struggling to get an answered from Skoda UK, I hope you can help.

- I need to fit three car seats in the back and this all hinges on the distance between the buckles in the rear seats. Could you please measure the gap between the buckles in the middle and let me know what it is?

- If opting for the space saver spare wheel does this increase the CO2 emissions?

Sorry for the geeky questions but it will really help decide if I order the car or not.

Thanks

I'd definitely appreciate feedback on the Canton audio compared to the Octy Canton or similar competitors setups. :)

- If opting for the space saver spare wheel does this increase the CO2 emissions?

Thanks

This one should be really easy to get around. If it is in a higher CO2 bracket and the cost over the length of ownership is greater than the cost of purchasing a spare wheel, then just source the spare wheel after purchase.

Hi Colin,

Can you ask about the availability of a SuperSport steering wheel. It's briefly mentioned in the brochure on page 12:

"For an even sportier feel it's possible to upgrade to a Supersport steering wheel in perforated leather and DSG paddles."

It's listed on a few online broker websites as an option but it's not listed in the brochure options table or on the configurator.

Cheers :)

Colin, this is shown in the brochure on page 35 (bottom right) but it's a suspected mistake becuase the picture is of the brown ventilated seat, only the text underneath says black.

You probably have the brochure but here's the link if not:

http://www.skoda.co.uk/SiteCollectionDocuments/Brochures/superb-2015-price-list.pdf

Could you please ask them. Why the UK congigurater shows the hill hold as standard on the L&K but it is also listed as an optional extra? I do believe it is not the only thing. Thank you.

It is as if they have rushed the configurater out.

I question Colin, can I come??? I mean who can you not invite the kingofscotland??

Enjoy and look forward to hearing about it, mine is ordered and can't wait for it to come, never been looking forward to a new car so much.

Cheers Colin ! Could you ask if the Pegasus wheel will be available in Anthracite please ?

As above it’s a typo in the brochure, the seat options are brown or ivory

This is one thing I wish to know also as they are right on the limit of the C02 bracket.

yes I could just put a winter tyre in the boot... but you do not get the wheel brace or jack unless you order the spare wheel option.

This is another question I am interested in, I assume it will be a flat bottomed, perferated leather version of the flappy paddled wheel?

What size front brakes are fitted to the 190CR and 280 TSi? (i.e if larger than 312mm then 16” winter tyres will not fit... so I would need to replace my current winter tyres... or put them on the Yeti and nick the Yeti’s 17” winters  :D  )

' Cheers Colin ! Could you ask if the Pegasus wheel will be available in Anthracite please ? '

Sorry i've not been very clear !! What I should have also added was for the SE L spec with the 280 power plant.

TA !

Hi Colin,

My two queries are in relation to the infotainment system.

If possible could you establish

1) If the SUK L&K spec has the rear centre console USB/12v/230v (under a flap) or just the pull-out storage drawer with 12v.

[Neither the configurator nor the current brochure make mention of this but both variations are shown in the UK pdf user manual]

2) Does the Media Command option include the Tablet headrest/armrest holder or is it a dealer provided accessory.

In any event enjoy your visit.

Thanks, BillyJim.

I can probably already answer that one for you. It comes as standard with a DSG box but is a £100 option for a manual box - across the whole range.

I did not see that caviat with it. Thank you.

I'm due to be in Scotland in about a week's time, staying near Milngavie, any decent Skoda dealers in that area?

TIA for any info, DC.

Yes there is a good one 12 miles away from Milingavie, and it's Henry's which is just up from Buchanan Bus Station if you know where that is. Details below:

Henrys Skoda

Excellent questions guys. I suspect one or two of them will stump folk. I'll pack the tape measure and video ;) I know some of the northern glen roads can be quite good, some are coarse surface which does bring out noise and rattles ;) Although never noticed them in my MKII Superb, so I have a good reference ;)

The media comparison to others will be more difficult to achieve, I'm an audio Luddite, the citigo mono speak is enough for me :) SO I suspect it will sound alright ;)

I don't know which models will be 'on show' but I'll take these questions and more to the event.

I don't think it's in the dealers just yet. I know they have had a dealer training/launch day.

This was at the New Superb launch at Trump Turnberry Golf Resort & Spa Scotland on the 25th June.

Aye they have been around for a bit now. A few in Irish Dealers. Hopefully a 4hour drive will be available, plenty of time to explore the boot and backseats :P If we get an estate I'll be able to have a kip :)

Where abouts is it being held? Any chance of swinging past my place and letting us have a shot?
