Skoda Octavia radio issue

Featured Replies

Hello,

This is my first post so forgive if I posted in the wrong section.

I have a 2006 Octavia which I was fitting an after market cd player to today and the harness adapter I was given by halfords was Autoleads pc2-75-4. When I fitted them the CD player turned on without ignition on and would turn off with the ignition. So I popped into the mechanic next to my storage unit and he advised me to swap the yellow and red to see if it would work with the ignition and It did not work either so he came over and tried it himself when he saw it didn't work He put the red wire to blue and it turned off! Now the after market radio and the standard radio will not work. I checked the fuses and can't see any blown fuse?

Also the fuses on both cd and radio are fine.

Any help would be great!

Thanks in advance

Darren.

The yellow and red do need to be swapped.

Remove the constant live from the remote, god knows what he was trying there.

You do not have a switched live due to using canbus.

You need either

1. The correct iso adaptor which creates one (at about £40)

2. Run a cable from the fuse box to the headunits switched live. Use a fuse tap and find a spare switched live in the fuse box at the end of the dash

Ryan-re thanks for your help.

I will get the correct adapter for it because as you can see I have no luck with wiring ha thanks again for the help

Ryan-re thanks again man!

Mikeholroyd- cheers Mike that fuse was blown, I replaced it and now the standard radio is working again thankfully! However the interior lights are not working I checked the bulbs front and rear no blown bulbs! When I said that to my "mechanic" he said that's unrelated but my uneducated guess at electrics says the lights were working until he crossed the wires, any ideas on that one please?

Try checking the fuses, internal and external.
