PID - can a second be added?

Featured Replies

About two months ago I bought a second-hand Citigo (low mileage, in perfect condition), and have been debating getting the PID.

The car is a three-door Elegance ASG - which I think the PID originally came with as standard? The previous owner had unfortunately passed away, and the original PID (if there was one) didn't come with the car.

So my question is...could I connect a new PID to this car if it's previously had one connected?

Thanks for any input!

Yes you can. A friend has done the same on his Citigo

Thanks, mate. That's good news.

I've been reading a bit on here and elsewhere about the PID...I'm keen on the Bluetooth and car readouts (esp MPG - one of the big factors in my car choice was fuel economy, my last car was a 1.6 Peugeot 207, very uneconomical!). But last year I got a new TomTom, and from what I've seen the SATNAV on the PID just may not compare. It would be good to get some opinions?

I thought it was great for my needs. Never failed me.

Depends on if you are stuck in the Tom Tom camp or the Garmin camp.

I really like the later and that is what the PID runs.

That said I got it for the hands free, music streaming and full car info not really bothered about the Satnav as the Citigo never goes anywhere for us to need a Satnav :)

Yes, the Elegance does have the PID as standard. I've had one for two years from new (the original Navigon unit) and never had any trouble with it.

Some on here have complained about various aspects (Bluetooth connectivity for example)...so perhaps I am just fortunate. Having the MPG readout always visible is very useful if you want to maximize economy.

Have to say I've found the PID a pita. I'm on my third one in just over two years. Bluetooth very flaky and if you've used a TomTom you'll find the sat nav cumbersome and unintuitive. Dealer tells me I am far from alone with the problems I've had. Glad I got the extended warranty as I'll not be surprised to need further replacement/s.

Thank you all for the quick replies!

Unfortunately I've always had TomTom satnavs, so I guess that puts me in the "TomTom camp". My biggest concern is I'd get the PID but continue to use my TomTom - in which case I can't justify the cost. But the positives I'm reading re-enforce the reasons I want one!

You should get one for all the other things it has if you don't use the Nav.

You could also buy a Seat Mii unit if its cheaper, it'll automatically code to the cars ECU and read it's a Skoda :)

I've always had Tom Tom's and love my PID, I find it very user friendly

If you have a Seat or VW version it will work on the Skoda but with the Seat or VW options. However, to get it to go over to a Skoda version you will have to do a factory reset. But beware if you get it added to your navigon fresh account as a Seat/VW then factory reset it. It will not be set up on your Fresh account any more. Make sure you set it to what version you want first then get it added to your fresh account.
