By filling EVAP system with petrol I assume.

Better stop brimming after first "click" to prevent over filling .

Don't know if ours is oversensitive or if the pumps at our Sainsburys are extra powerful but if I did that I wouldn't be putting more than one or two litres in. It takes four or five clicks before I can slow the flow to the right level to stop it clicking off :)

I'm sure you know what I meant.

I know it needs skills to fill a fuel tank. ;)

Yes of course. I was joking -- but with a serious point in mind that being that our Citigo and also the Yeti won't take the full flow of the pumps at any time. I'm not sure if they are all like that. Just one of the many little things in life that irritate me constantly ;)

I'm sure they all are like that. But soon you will learn that last 5 litres can be filled a bit slowly. Then, once it clicks, that's it. Not more needed. Better not try to fill more, as it will fill EVAP system after that. As already been said, dangerous.

That's probably because you are pushing the nozzle in too far. Mine takes full flow no issue at all

That's very likely - got into the habit a while ago when my shoes got soaked with diesel. It was a defective pump nozzle. After complaining loudly, I got an ex gratia payment out of Sainsburys for my trouble basically because when I went into the kiosk to tell them there was a problem they said "Yes we've already reported it."

I just push it all the way in now (no oooh matron comments please).

I might try and break the 500 mile barrier this time round. Will stick a jerry can in the boot just in case

Im on 100 miles range right now after covering 397 miles... its going to be close!! :D

I haven't tried to break the 500 range yet, been doing too many short trips recently. I'm getting just under 60mpg from a tank from working it out and not going off the PID.

I have found the range drops off quite quickly in the last 100 miles so you might struggle

Well done to those of you who get above 450 miles.....

Best I've achieved is 420-425 miles......

Refuelled this evening after covering 470 miles with 10 miles range showing on the PID. I reckon 500 miles is theoretically achievable but would require the absolutely right circumstances over a number of days for me to achieve it on my commute.

How many miles do you think I can get once the light comes on?

That's the wrong game, the right game is how many miles once the fuel gauge shows empty!

I failed. 485. But I did record an actual 60.1mpg fill to fill, with 62.3mpg on the Pid

I'm on course on this tank. Range plus miles covered equals 525 at present, will keep you updated!

430 miles done.... a small milestone in this race to 500 miles.

This is going to be close!

380 miles done so far and the range is showing as 125 miles; can we reach 500 on one tank full?

Went through 400 miles today with 100 miles of range showing. Unfortunately the car also went in for its first service today, with 425 miles on the tank and 75 miles of range remaining. When she came out she was still showing 425 miles on the tank but only 65 miles of range remaining. By the time I got home she had 30 miles of range showing and 460 miles on the tank. Doesn't look lie we are going to make it on this tank! :-(

PID was showing over 75mpg on the way home today; a new route that allows long stretches of 50-55mph and then a few miles at 30mph and 40mph. If I stick to this route then 500 miles per tank should be achievable.

Over 72mpg showing again today on the way home - mileage covered so far plus PID range = 530 miles at the moment. Going to be another week or more at this rate before I hit 500 miles!

No, I don't have a Citigo but I am really enjoying reading this thread. It's like a mission that just has to be accomplished! I am sure one of you will do it and send some photographic evidence. But if real world is 400 miles plus from a tank I might be tempted to buy one.

Steve

400 miles per tank is easy peasy. You can drive it like Colin McRae and get 50mpg!

I was a bit late today and got a bit carried away today; mpg dropped to low 60s

Miles covered plus range = 495 now; may be too late to recover on this tank.

You can recover it I'm sure :)

Some very 'sensible' driving today and miles covered + range = 505. It's going to be close ...

Standby for the next thrilling instalment tomorrow!
