Random bike ride, where to go?

Featured Replies

I'm guessing you meant ZZR1400. My memory must be failing me in my old age, a quick Google shows that after the Special Edition (which had the Akrapovic cans, but no Ohlins) they did the "Performance Sport" edition, which had Akrapovic cans and Ohlins TTX shock. Still probably not the real deal though (like the ones on Speed Triple Rs nd Daytona 675Rs aren't).

Talking about rider weight. On the Triumph Explorer forum there is a lot of discussion about shock absorber adjustment. It would appear quite a few are unhappy with the stock item but then some of them are American and substantially heavier than me the wife and luggage!

I do not touch mine because it is a black art and smoke and mirrors don't make understanding it any easier. Also if you check the owner's manual the settings for the front are the same be it solo, with pillion or fully loaded so why give you the option of changing it? All very baffling and without doubt there will always be a compromise so it works in a fashion that I can cope with so leave it well alone. Yes it would be good to understand how to set it up properly but there are so many 'experts' out there on the net it is difficult to know what is right and what is sh*te! I doubt very much that the fitters at the dealers really know either.

Does the Explorer have a triumph equivalent to bmw's ESA?

Settings on the dash you can adjust electronically.

No all done the good old fashioned way which I would trust more anyway.

Matt, have a look here...

Dealt with them when I had the hornet 9.

They try to set the bike up with existing components and if that falls out of range, they use as many of the OE parts as possible to set it up how you want it.

Keeps the cost down so all good.
