Featured Replies

Im happy!

proper garage, does loads of local Skoda taxis

Just make sure the oil is VW507.00.

If it is cheap then great, if it is too cheap go in with your eyes open.

This place does the Superbs belonging to our taxi base boss, about 8 of them, and has done for several years, so i think it should be good

If they buy oil in bulk its probably half the cost of 5ltrs at retail and a filters only £10 at most, so call it £30 in parts, 30 minutes work, £30 labour...

Elected to use Skoda @ £101 inc vat for that little extra peace of mind - plus its its 1st ever, they said its on variable tho, 2 years or 20,000

The variable service is up to 20K, it all comes down to your driving style and type of driving you do.

it can have 10k oil+filter and at 20k all filters/oil/etc then 30k oil+filter again

thats year 1 done....

I think main dealer service was the right option. You never know when you need to call in the dealer goodwill card - normally when you're one month out of warranty, and the car goes into limp mode.

I wish I could find a Skoda franchised main dealer round here that would do an oil and filter service for £101 inc. VAT.

That is a great price.

Citroen charged me £188 for just an oil+filter on a Relay 2.8hdi van in 2009....

Hang on a sec....£100 for oil and filter only? That seems crazy money (although I totally understand the peace of mind a dealer supplied service might bring). I thought the £66 was a little steep  :notme:

I'm out of touch. A filter is between £8 and £10 but I can see from a quick google search that in the UK the oil is actually quite pricey.

In Switzerland they charge stupid money at the dealers for an oil change (240chf, approx. £160) so I will nip over to France and get it done at a specialist oil service place (Midas) for £50.

They will also do a full service on the 3.6 - air filter if i wanted it but she has a K&N, 6xplugs, oil and filter, DSG box oil change (filter extra), electronic check-up and 76 point 'check' - for €223 or £157 all in. Its all warrantied too apparently  (preserves the original VAG constructor guarantee) so no hassle with any original warranty etc.

In theory....

Im with you, id even DIY it, oil £25, filter £10, but for now, ill swallow it, Citroen never questioned my warranty requests (monthly) even though they never touched it for service again

I had my 60 k service ( with new fuel filter) at my local non skoda garage and they charged £130, I asked him to check brakes and put new pads in if it needed them but they said the pads were ok which is great

Ive got the genuine skoda filter and 5ltrs of Quantom to VW504/507 so ill just get a local garage to do it at 12,000 (now) and charge me labour and it can have a Skoda 20k service when due/book stamped...
