quick question about my octavia...

Featured Replies

I recently brought myself a skoda octavia mk1 elegence 1.8 20v turbo 150bhp and I have 2 spoilers on it 1 on the boot lid and 1 on top of the boot.window. Now is this standard or modified as I'm worried with insurance.

Thanks

YEAR?

Assume boot-lid standard fit only..

1999 I would load a pic but I don't know how... Is it still the old fashioned way of photobucket?

On an Elegance I'd suspect that they're both mods, but need a pic to be certain. Yes, through a photo-hosting site is normal.

hope this works guys

All 3 are mods, top of screen, boot lid and rear valance.

Seconded. Also, I'm not sure that a V-prefix car is actually an Elegance rather than a pre-facelift SLXi. Can you post a similar front 3/4 view as well?

Those wheels aren't mkI elegance spec either. They look like MkII wheels.

Cheers trundlenut; now I think about it my mate's SLXi had 195/65R15s on steels, where an Elegance (or an L&K) will have 205/55R16s on alloys.

For the OP, this has now turned from "are those spoilers standard fit? (they're not only not standard but I don't think they're OEM) to "exactly what have you bought?" It may not seem like it, but this is actually intended to help you, ok?

MkI elegance wheels are 5 spoke (wide spokes) and IIRC the slxi had thin spoke 5 spoke wheels. The wheels in the picture are 6 spoke and the centres look like the right ones for MkII Vega alloys.

Will get picture of the front is well it's got the same back bumper, on the front and the wheels are 205/60 r15

15" wheels aren't standard Elegance fit (post facelift you'd only find them on Classic and Ambiante trims) (oh and BTW 205/60R15 is a tyre size, not a wheel size which for those tyres should be something like 6.5x15ET42 5x100PCD )

Yes in aware of that thanks :-)

That's definitely a pre FL CAR and extra bit on the bumper isn't standard. Not seen those wheels before though.

Agreed, oh yes and an Elegance would have oval trim level badges above the side repeaters (at least post facelift side repeaters would be inoperative clear like the main indicators too).

Speaking of, I met someone with a pre-facelift GLXi (still has boot badge) and it had 196/55R15s on steels.

That's why my octavia has a power ignition module rather than the trusty coilpack.

So all in all I just need to notify my insurance of the 2 spoilers then? That's the main concern was whether I am covered on my insurance or not.

Thanks guys appreciate all the help

2 spoilers, and 2 splitters on the bumpers, and we don't think those alloys are VAG made.

Belated type correction; that tyre size should be 195/65R15.

Would be to see a piccie of one of the wheels. It would also worth looking to see if there is a vag part number on the back of one of the spokes.

I will look tomorrow for the vag code... I think they are real as I still got the original spare with the original tyre in the boot never used

Are they Fabia alloys??
