Phew - all done and dusted. Despite my rantings about Halifax saying the car was a write off but not a write off, they confirmed yesterday that it is a total loss and this mronign they offered me

Excellent news.

Glad it's worked out ok.

Any idea when you'll get the new car?

They say it always comes to those who wait

Bit of a result I think

my thoughts exactly!

Now while we're on the subject of the Octy 2....I had a phone kit installe don the old one using a bracket from dashmount.co.uk but I see from their site that their new bracket is no good for the Octy 2 if it has elegance trim (presumably that scuppers the L&K too). Does anyone have any tips on the best way to set up a hands free or cradle in an Octy 2.

:)

Fantastic news Domhnall, so pleased for you. :orb_jacks Hope you get a quick spin in a DSG car though, but either way well done. Anyone who can get a good result out of an insurance company has to be pleased with the result. :orb_not_w Just counting the days till my Octy comes, hopefully early January. :orb_elf: not really sure why I pasted an Elf in there, but it's cute.

Well the guys at West End have been really excellent to me, and they did sing the praises of the DSG so I am sure I can persuade them to let me have a spin! I'll miss the sunroof and Xenons on the old car but am sure the new one will quickly dispel any such sadness :D

I was well impressed with the Halifax in the end, yesterday they were talking about giving me 7k and I was preparing for a fight, overnight they found the one 2nd hand L&K for sale in the UK and today they agreed to pay me what it was going for. Can't really argue with that.

I know what you're feeling about waiting for the new car, I had a 3 month wait for my last one and time never seemed to drag as slowly as it did at that time. Enjoy when it arrives!

Why is the guy in the green hat painting the loco coupler blue? Tell him to use Floquil Tuscan.

Your railway minded friend will insist you paint the couplers a dull rust! [Just kidding - Floquil Tuscan is a popular colour of model railroad hobby paint!!]
