MK1 Fabia - The £50 Sleeper

Featured Replies

Project journal just for myself to follow and keep track of really.

I acquired the car after sitting in my mates driveway working on his felicia fun pick-up, when his neighbor came up to us asking if either of us would be interested in a old fabia for £50!!! (only catch he wanted the alloys back for his wifes fabia and I was to sort out my own wheels) I went round and had a look it's a PD100 estate which worked out great for me as I'm about to become an apprentice mechanic and needed a cheap car to run & insure. Quite a bit of rust and dings however my plan is to make it an ultimate Sleeper Wagon. First goal is to get it through it's MOT which is due on 3rd August. Its got 185K on the clock and a decent service history so all in all I'm a happy guy with this.

After driving it the 15mile trip home there was knocking coming from the front which I knew was the drop links so got set in about them today. PITA as the bolts had to be cut off.

A couple of pics (not the best quality)

Comments welcome (but nothing negative as this is purely a place for me to keep a track on what I do to the car

I'd have snapped that up too, rust or not! :D

PS: changing ancillaries is not a conversion ;) You need to change out the whole engine.  ;)

Stunning colour, good luck with it :)

Changed that over. I would be an idiot to walk away even with over 9 cars in the driveway at the time (mainly my uncles)

Never too many vehicles in a drive mate :)

I am having thoughts of doing this at the moment. Stick some steelies with hub caps on :)

Everybody loves a bargain.. Looking forward to this

Extra stuff picked up today, went with my mate to help strip his smashed fabia and while there took the front seats for the subframes to get some bucket seats fitted...also got the front crash bar for cutting up for when I fit my intercooler...took a wee trailer for ease
