Parcel Shelf Support Pegs

Featured Replies

Hi all. Overloaded the boot and tried to shut it, and the strings then took the parcel shelf pegs off. Please see the  attached picture. Now I can't get them back in! I've tried using a hammer (delicately!). Any ideas or people who've had the same problem?

Thanks for any help.

Soak the pegs in very hot water for 10 minutes, they then just push in no problem. Or heat them with a good hair dryer, same effect.

Thanks for this - will try this today :)

Does it have a separate middle pin? If so that needs to come out first, then put the bottom half in the hole, then put the pin back. It spreads out the barbs.

As Neily03 says there should be a middle pin, pull it out (about 5-8mm), put the peg into the hole and press the middle back in.

Yep, I have come across the same issue, if the boot is slightly overloaded, and the parcel shelf is dislodged. Then when the boot is closed, it causes the pin to be pulled from the C pillar trim.

Mine have on both occasions, have never been seen again.

The part number for a replacement pin is 1M6-867-574-A (something like 17p each from memory).

Have the same issue myself. Dinevalesco, did you manage to get it sorted? What technique did you use?

What neily said. Pull the centre pin out, the outside then contracts, push that in, then push centre pin back in to secure

Cheers did the trick.

In case anyone else looks for this thread later, this vid might help

RogerRally - 17p?! My dealer wanted £4.95 for one of them!

Where can I get one (several probably!) for 17p!
