Rocking Drivers Seat

Featured Replies

Hi

Had my car leatherised at Seat Surgeons Last monday now front drivers seat has started to rock slightly. I can feel it when I brake and accelerate! Anyway it is only the seat which is moving. I guess I need to tighten up a few bolts. Anyone any ideas where they are could not see in the dark.

Cheers

if you slide the seat fully backwards you'll see 2 bolts (star headed) - 1 in each of the runners, then slide the seat fully forwards and you'll see another 2 bolts in the seat runners (star headed)

The seat base itself is known to rock. Mine was replaced under warranty at 14,000 miles.

Had a good look with the torch. It appears that it is the bolt which is the back left of the drivers seat which needs tightening. TBH i am a little disapointed with the seat surgeons the quality of the leather covering is top notch but I dont think they are too carefull about taking out the seats and refitting them. I have a few problems that I didnt have before and the drivers door handle has obviously been glued back on after they have damaged it. Unfortunatly I didnt notice these things until after. Its a three hour drive too. Sorry to moan as generally they have done a good job just that little bit of extra care is required.

Dont expect a new seat base would be covered under warrenty now ive had the seats covered.

I have the rocking seat syndrome too on my car. Bloody annoying. My dealer wants the Skoda UK Tech guy to see the car before they'll attempt a repair or authorise a replacement base.

The bolts that hold the seat in should be replaced after you've removed them, ie single use, but they only cost a coulpe of quid from the dealers. They are actaully have a head on them which is known as Spline Drive.

Looks like im going to have to pop to the dealers or take the chair out myself. Anyone know what size star shape driver I will need?

M10 Spline not 'Star'.

And yes the bolts should be replaced or at least re threadlocked.

Rocking is quite common, mine had a new seat base @ 10k.

Its already been stripped by the seat surgeons I would imagine so I cant see warrenty covering it.

Good point.
