Breakdown cover - Parts & Garage

Featured Replies

So having read several policy's, i come to this:

Have been modified from the manufacturer’s specification (unless agreed by Us);

 - Now too what extent, gear knob? floor mats?

Only thing i have noticeable different is a FMIC and a strut brace.

Do you think these would void the policy?

Gear knob & Floor Mats unlikely to effect any claims.

Front Mounted Intercooler might well if you were claiming on Engine or Cooling problems.

Strut Brace if it was Suspension Issues.

That are the kind of Mechanical Modifications that will be in the T&C's and Exclusions.

The idea was to help cover turbo costs :P

So i guess the fmic may make that void?

I have email a provider, i will see what they say.

Sorry can you explain.

Have you had a Turbo give up the Ghost, and a Garage has Diagnosed that as what is wrong, and you want to claim under Warranty Cover for a replacement.?

Nope, im looking to buy parts & labour breakdown, as the current turbo has done 140k and its only a matter of time.

I think i understand now,

you want to buy a 'Parts & Labour Warranty to cover Breakdowns' on a car that has covered 140,000 miles already.

Is this on a car over 8 years old?

& Have you found anyone that will sell you that even on an unmodified car?

Most I looked at (AA for example) only covered £500 per claim, to be done at an approved vat registered garage of their choice isn't going to cover much.

Plus, as George said, I think the milage will be over from the start.

AA,RAC, RESCUE MY CAR

Ive only looked at these 3. So none have declined ... ive got to the payment screen on all of them.

I have emailed rescume my car, as they are the cheapest regarding the fmic

So what sort of costs are these Policies and up to what sort of costs are covered.?

Wear & Tear will be a clause i would imagine, once you have paid to have the failure diagnosed / parts removed.

Yeah that was the other bit I forgot to say, the AA exclude wear and tear so I think 150k on a turbo would be excluded anyway. £500 claim limit as per my last post.

From reading the policy, its covered regardless of age. Due to age of the car/ mileage my quote went up £27. I opted for normal recovery £30 (new customer discount), National Recovery, Parts and Labour  = £166 per year/ £17.76 per month.

AA'S policy : https://www.theaa.com/resources/Documents/pdf/breakdown-cover/breakdown-repair-cover-policy-current.pdf

Up to £500 per claim for Parts, Labour & Vat.

So that is not going to cover a Turbo expiring.  Best to maybe look at just buying one and changing it.
