Washer fluid light always on?

Featured Replies

Hi, just purchased a 2007 Octavia 1,6l and it had the washer fluid light on when I got it.

I first thought it was missing washer fluid but when I saw that the bottle was full I thought it was the level sensor. When I removed the shield under the bumper I took a picture of the washer bottle and realized that it doesn't have a level sensor. The washer fluid for the front window works fine, as well as for the rear window.

Does anybody know what could cause this light?

Seen on this picture, the level sensor is number "6"

The washer bottle on my car (seen in this picture) doesn't have a level sensor.

It is possible using VCDS to code the car to tell it that it has the level sensor fitted, for example when retrofitting the sensor.

Could the previous owner have made the adjustment?

Do you get a 'bong' sound each time you turn on the ignition?

Hi,

No, I don't get any "bong" sound, the warning light comes on 15-20 seconds after I turn the car on.,

Don't have the VCDS installed and no cable to check. Don't think the previous owner did anything to the car as he didn't know a thing about the car.

Really don't want to install a sensor, just for the light to go away.

Can I switch the light off by using VCDS?

Yes it can be coded out with VCDS
