Octavia vRS FL 2011 potential buy......

Featured Replies

Hi All, I am looking at an Octavia vRS with 61k miles, 2011 plate. Has a full skoda service history at 18l, 36k and 54k.However the current owner has only had the car 6 months but wants to get another BMW now. The car still has 4 / 5 months warranty left. So I called the local dealer to check out the service history, and confirm if it needed a cambelt. It’s the TSI so no cam belt, is a chain. However they did tell me it was brought in last month, as the owner said the clutch was slipping. They said they test drove it 3 times and found no fault with it. I called the owner up who said it was his wife who thought this was happening, and that he just got it checked out. Any thoughts………?! Thank you in advance.

My initial thoughts.... would be to walk away from this one - IMO.

You have done your research and found there could be an issue lurking.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking the same, but then I can't understand why Skoda themselves wouldn't say there was an issue if that was the case? The seller has said I can drive it, do what I want, there is nothing wrong with it, it was his wife that was driving it and thought it was slipping.

Went and viewed the car, I like it, didn't notice any clutch problems. But I'm concerned about timing chains on these engines. (2.0 TSI). Do I need to be worried? It has a transferable warranty for another 5 months from Skoda however if this were to start rattling, would they cover it. Thanks again for anyone who wants to comment!
