rear door stuck shut

Featured Replies

The rear passenger door is stuck shut the button goes up and down with the rest but outside and inside handles do nothing

I have the panel off and access to the motor and have even cut into the side to the deadlocking cog which is working and actuating the rod inside

I've tried everything I can think of even pushing the rod further up and down with a screwdriver and have poked prodded and flicked everything I can think of to get it to release and nothing has worked even kicking the inside of the door while pulling the release cable

Anyone have any more ideas before I go at it with my fooking big hammer

Pretty common sadly. Add it to water ingress as typical high quality VAG build quality - not even fixed on the mk2 octy/mk5 golf platform onwards either :)

Sadly there's no easy way to do it. If you google seat Leon stuck rear door lock or golf 4 stuck rear door lock there's loads of different threads on t'interwebs on this.

My wife's Leon we fixed by repeatedly pressing the unlock button on the key whilst smacking the outside door handle with a rubber mallet. There is a bodge around attaching a 12v supply directly to the mechanism as well but not tried it - have a look for it.

Alternatively this brisky thread might be of use http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/287486-rear-door-lock-failure-opening-suggestion/

dont know if you have sorted this yet but mine will unlock if you lock the car, then pull the interior handle so the button pops up and back down. then unlock it with the interior button on the drivers door sometimes takes a couple of goes but normally unlocks ?

Happens on mine the rear door will not open if they are not used I just stand by the door and operate the fob and operate the door handle it always works for me

Still not working have tried the lock unlock method / hitting various parts of it as I said though the card is off and have tried doing everything I can get to from the inside too

Not tried the drivers release button yet will do that as one last attempt but think some part of the mechanical linkage has come adrift inside the lock everything electrical seems to be operating as it should so smashing it apart looks like my only option

There is a ood guide somewhere on whete to cu into the mechanism to release the dead lock cog whuch is whats most likely broked. Mine is deadlocked a while now, passed an nct (mot) like that in june..

I got a chinese patern lock arrived a couple of weeks ago but teying figure a way to get card off without wrecking it is proving difficult...

If you find you need a replacement loom, mech, window motor or anything else from the door in question I should have the parts for you. Will be stripping a vrs and saving the parts for sale

Allready chopped into the deadlocking mech i did it with a sharp stanley blade and chopped it back further to see the rod operating too its all operating as it should throwing the selenoid up/down as i said it dosen't seem to be an electrical fault something mechanical has broken or bent in mine

i took the 2 screws out from the bottom of the card and the 2 from the handle and got my hands as far up the side as i could then gave it a sharp tug all the clips popped off unbroken with the lug bits still screwed to the card but that may just be luck more than judgement as i just got to a point where i went hulk smash with it

This is a pattern lock i put in mid december last year btw

Fitted a couple now never had any problems in the past it has a year gauruntee on it so not an issue getting a replacement just getting it open is proving tricky/impossible

So, ill be osting a couple if pics later on how to release the deadlock from inside :) i can now currently lock and unlock the door from the inside ala 1992 - reach from drivers door and pull up the pin.. and open the door from the outside.

made **** of the 3square bolts holsing the mech though so going to have to get me drill i think... typical.
