Struggling to find or get an answer on this. I've got a Octavia Scout (just taken delivery of a new 2015 model) with heated front screen. I want to use a Sanef toll tag (for use on French motorways) and wondered if anyone else has used them successfully on this type of screen and if they did where on the screen were they fixed.

I've seen a couple of older threads on this topic but nothing to really answer my question.

Sanef say to attach them in the mottled area either behind or either side of the rear view mirror as that is normally clear of anything that would stop or restrict the toll tag being read. On the Octavia screen the area directly behind the mirror is taken up by the lane departure system but to each side there is a small black mottled area in the glass. However, on close inspection the thin filament wires also go through this area as well as the rest of the screen. Sanef suggest these wires may stop the toll tag being read.

I spoke to Skoda technical support who said they'd never been asked that question before but didn't have any reports of such toll tags not working. But they couldn't confirm they would work. Skoda also told me the black mottled area is where it detects the number of raindrops to set the automatic wiper speed.

Would love to hear if anyone has successfully used them with this type of windscreen, otherwise I'm likely to be the unpopular Englishman trying to reverse out of a queue of traffic at the tolls.

I cant speak out of experience, but in Norway we have plenty of toll roads. And Ive never heard of a heated windscreen interfering with the tolltag.

Stick the badge in the mottled area to the left of the mirror. I had no problems with mine in June from Calais to the Var and back, unless there has been a change in the heated screen design since Nov. 2014 when I got mine.
