Is this an earth tag?

Featured Replies

Please could someone confirm that this is an earth tag. It's on the wiring to the convenience module on a 2008 Octavia. Have searched the forum but could not find anything similar. Thanks.

At a guess I'd say it was an unused wire for your particular model, rather than create different wiring they just terminate any superfluous.

A strange looking termination though.

If the end is copper you could try a continuity check to ground but ask an auto sparky first, today's microchip controlled conveyances can be sensitive to unintended grounding.

Thanks for the replies much appreciated. I did think it was an odd shape for an earth tag but in my past experience spare unused wires are normally left with the appropriate connector fitted or taped into the loom and not visible, so I didn't think it could have been one of those. Thanks for putting me right. 👍

If i had to guess it would be a piece of heat shrink added to end and then squashed with some pliers at the end while still hot
