What do you think of this Total oil versus quantum.... About 7 quid cheaper per 5 litre bottle... Seems to meet the grades.

Write-up as follows....

Quartz INEO Long Life 5W30 Z181712

Formerly Quartz INEO 504/507

Quartz INEO Long Life possesses the most current specifications and is known as a new generation oil throughout Europe. It is especially adapted to German diesel technology although it can be used on gasoline engines as well. It has been specially approved by Volkswagen, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

Quartz INEO Long Life was developed using TOTAL’s advanced low SAP Technology to increase the longevity of the DPF and provide extended drain intervals while being environmentally friendly.

Much better than Quantum.

I've done 6 or so changes on my Superb with this oil, the engine hasn't fallen out yet.

Have no experience of Quantum oil.  I did one change with Petronas beforehand and that was noticeably noisier than the Total, by comparison.

Buy mine from Nielsen CDG's website, in 1L bottles which makes oil changes even easier.

Cool. I've bought a bottle, fire it into the Octavia next week and see how it runs.

And below is a copy of VW's formal approval of the oil. This is the first time I have seen the format for such approval.

Interesting... Although it looks like that permission has expired.

Not bothered, still cheaper than the rest and meets the specs
