I want to buy an extra spare wheel.

Featured Replies

I'm hoping to go on a long continental road trip. I have a slimline spare wheel. Assuming I'm going to get a puncture at some stage, I thought it might be an idea to get an additional full size spare wheel (stowage isn't a problem)

Rather than getting a brand new one from a dealer does anyone know if these ever become available from scrap yards or on the interweb thingy

The spare wheel from a range of VAG cars will fit I imagine - 16"? If you have a scrappy nearby it's worth a look for sure.

eBay have a few ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=skoda+octavia+spare+wheel&_sop=10&_jsoff=1&_osacat=0&_ssc=1&_from=R40&_trksid=p4758.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC1.A0.H0.Xskoda+superb+spare+wheel.TRS0&_nkw=skoda+superb+spare+wheel&_sacat=0 ) but also try gumtree and Preloved local to you.

Or post a wanted ad on Briskoda of course :D

If stowage not a problem buy 2 full sized wheels and tyres, you can always use them, and keep one in garage on your return from holiday..

at least Skoda made the hole big enough to put a real wheel in, my mondeo had a space saver, a real wheel wouldnt go in the hole!

Thanks peeps

Sometimes wheels are available on ebay or similar. Got mine from Germany.  ebay.de  remember postage cost is high.

Depends on which wheels you have already but if your not to fussy you could get a skoda wheel same size same et number but a different design alloy wheel, its just for a spare.

Dealer price is approx. £200,00 for a new wheel, then buy the tyre of your choice say £75,00  so its not a cheap extra but very well worth it.

I bought the 16 steel spare wheel for mine to replace that stupid inflation kit, i found that they are expensive to buy 2nd hand £70 - £100 but keep a look out i got mine local off eBay £45 & the jack kit was anther ebay jobbie £25 from a mk5 golf.

Why two spares? you would have to be really unlucky to get a second puncture on the way to the tyre shop  :notme:

Skoda didn't fit a space saver spare to the Superb, only full size 16" steel wheels.

This is a (very thin) space saver...

This is a standard 16" Skoda spare wheel (fitted to an Octavia vRS but it's the same as fitted to the Superb)...

Thanks again.

Super snail. Yes I agree the odds of getting a second puncture are long. And in fact I haven't had a puncture for over four years. But I just thought it would save the hassle of hunting immediately for a tyre shop and it could be done at leisure.

Once after leaving Valencia, Spain I had one after about 100 miles. I risked it and drove all the way back to the Midlands before I got it fixed.

Think of the extra roija you can get in its place!
