OK my superb has factory fitted towbar and 13 pin electrics does anyone know if they are wired for the caravan fridge etc and do they have a split charge relay fitted or will I need to fit this myself?cheers Pete

It has just one 13 pin plug that replaces the double plug used on older uk systems. I read the article you kindly posted and think I understood some of it. From what the article said I presume the car system will run the fridge via the ECU unit and will stop when the engine is stopped. So I would presume that a low voltage relay is not necessary. I need to be sure of this before I head off with the van cos theres nothing worse than warm beer when you stop for the night.

It is possible to have 13 pin electrics, but not have the caravan charging circuits wired in, so having 13 pin electrics isn't a guarantee all the pins are wired. If you have a multimeter you can check whether you're getting about 12 V between pins 9 and 13 at all times and between pins 10 and 11 only while the engine is running. If this is the case it's all been done and you don't need to do anything more, if not you'll have to add the relay yourself and wire into those pins.
