Used Fabia - Finance

Featured Replies

Looking at buying a 2013 Fabia. Dealer pushing PCP and an APR of over 11%. Way he's configured the finance = after 4 years I'll still owe close to 50% of the original price of the car.

Is this called taking the whatsit?

Sounds extortionate to me.

The car needs a MOT next year, and then a Warranty for 3 years, and its a 6 year old car.

At least 2 Big Services while you have it.

How much is the car now to buy?

How many miles a year will you do?

& would you not be better looking at a PCP on a new car?

+1

But to add.

Saving up too and getting a big deposit or buying outright would perhaps work better?

Car marked at £11k. Deposit £2k. Probably keep 3 - 4 years at 10k p.a. Would be adding 2 extra years warranty at time of putchase. 2 years free service incl in price.

11% apr is high!

For the interest that's paid over the 4 years you'd be much better off taking out a bank loan instead and save a good few pounds!

Is not a car from an Arnold Clark Car Supermarket?

No, not from Arnold Clark, but a skoda dealer. Bank loan saves circa £4k over same period. Real no-brainer.

Quite fancy the car but this one salesman is leaving a sour taste. On the other hand, a new car on PCP and 0% finance might be attractive, but do not really want to wait 8 - 12 weeks for delivery.

Why wait, the country is sinking under new cars in Pounds waiting to be registered.

& the 65 Plates are coming out so there will be cars now in Showrooms that Dealers want Registered before the end of the month.

If they are not sold, they need to Register them and have them as Demonstrators.

Many will be getting Pre-Registered.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that. I'm not particularly hung up on any spec so, hopefully, there is something accepable just sat waiting for me.

I never realised it was a Fabia vRS Estate you were looking at.

The £11,000 for a 2013 is OK.

But its the Finance charge.

Maybe a Member here has one for sale Private and newer if you can use a Bank Loan.

Then with a car with Service History it is easy to take an Extended Warranty at the end of the 3 years,

or maybe has one for sale with a Warranty taken out for 5 years,

hi mate, i did finance last week on a used fabia estate VRS (2013) they listed it as 11% (10490).  I went in and asked what the best they can do is and they said thats it. they also said oh extend the finance to keep the payment low and then just trade in half way through blah blah blah,

So i told them on my cuirrent fiannce i was paying 7% with them skoda finance ( which was a lie actually as i only had 7.5 when i checked)  anyway they went away and they got me 7% and we done the deal.  the business manager is who you want to speak to .  And yes on a PCP deal the finance is more costly due to the actual interest rate.

use this basic calculator to help you, you can get the buy back figure from the skoda site.

oh and salesman was a **** by the way, knows stuff all about what he's selling so i just sorted the deal myself so to speak.
