Columbus Map Updates

Featured Replies

Currently there is a map update for my Columbus system on the Skoda website.  When I put in my VIN number, it allows me to download the updates.  The question I have is, has anyone done an update and if so, did it run smoothly or did you have problems.  I have read that some people have had issues.  I don't want to download 12 Gigs and then load into the columbus system for 8 hours if in the end it won't work.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

It was problemfree for me.

Just Download the file, extract it to a sd card and put it in the car.

I will have a crack at it this weekend.  Hopefully all will be ok.

It'll go just fine.

It takes some time when doing the actual update, but its perfectly safe to turn off the car. It will continue updating for a little while before shutting down. And will auto resume next time you take a drive.

I cannot download the new 2015/2016 maps from the update portal for Skoda so if there is amybody who can advise me that would be appreciated.

My process has been as follows:

1) Went to website updateportal.skoda-auto.com and confirmed by entering my VIN number that I have ECE2015 and that ECE2015/2016 is available to download.

2) Clicked the download option which then sent the file downloader.exe to my PC.

3) Clicked on the file and chose the option to RUN but nothing happened even after leaving it for several minutes.

That's as far as I get so help would be appreciated.

Click run and another application should run which downloads the file. It's not a full window app, just like a download bar so you may have missed it.

The updates for Columbus are pretty problem free (its Amudsen which is more difficult because it uses a special SD-card)

You don't need ignition on to run the update or you can also run the update while driving (navigation is still available for most of the process).

You can use an SD-card or a portable hard-drive.

The update can also be interrupted & it will continue from where it left off the next time you start the entertainment unit.

There is a known problem if you try to use 7zip to extract the files & copying the files using a MAC can cause some problems.
