Removing Bury mobile kit

Featured Replies

Morning

When I purchased the car (second hand) it had a Bury mobile kot for a Nokia installed to the left of the climate control.

I finally got round, after 2 years, to pulling the trim around the radio and climate control off, remove the screws to that hold the climate control in place thus releasing the bracket.

Tracing the wires I found a Bury box behind the climate control, so unplugged that and removed it, leaving the double fused supply block in place for now.  There is what looks to be an aerial wire that had a screw connector that went to the mount.  This disappears deep down inside.  Don't know if it's standard fixture on the car, but that I plan on leaving in place.

The questions I have are:

  1. I found another box tucked in the cavity called something like a transmute controller, seems to have a bucked load of wires in and out of it.  I'm guessing that this isn't standard Octavia kit?  I assume it was a Bury aftermarket box that intercepts the speaker wires (judging by the number of them) and mutes the radio and interjects the phone sound to the speakers?  Anyone confirm this?
  2. There is a mono jack plug that went into the Bury box I have removed, again the wire for this disappears into the guts of the car, I'm guessing this is the connection to the mic up by the curtesy light, again anyone confirm?
  3. Finally, the double fused power block, anyone know how you go about removing this?  I couldn't see on a quick check this morning what it's tapped into to gain it's supply.  The other option of course would be to check what the voltage level is and maybe adapt it to a USB feed for the sat nav/phone.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Update: wasn't a transmute, it was telemute.

The Bury kit should just fit between the standard wiring loom and the stereo. If you trace it back into the dash board you will find a block connector. The male end of it should match the female end at the stereo.

That's what I was hoping, didn't have time this morning the in the company car park to climb inside the dashboard and figure it out.

So I should just be able to pull a plug out fo the telemute block, and stick that directly into the stereo is what you're saying?

That should the case.

Perfect, manged to get everything removed save the mix, aerial and a blue wire?

No idea what the blue is, other than it was one of the two fused sections, seems to be coming from the steering wheel side of the dash.  Didn;t have my meter with me so unable to check whether it was live or switched live.
