Rear door lock jammed?

Featured Replies

Hi, have 2002 skoda fabia on which the rear passenger lock has malfunctioned and the door cannot be opened.

I need to open this as i have new baby due in couple weeks and the quarter light window is broken as well.

Many years ago i used to body work repairs so not un-familier with dismantling car trims.

I found a guide to removing the door trim and opening the lock. I successfully removed the door trim and rest of door backing and works, but so far have been unable to release the door?

I took it to a couple of mechanic friends who both had a go and could also could not release the lock

Does anyone know of skoda specialists who could release the door lock for me, i am willing to pay as need to get this done asap.

I am in West London

cheers

Desperate to get this fixed, no one know of anyone who could help?

There's various posts on this forum about stuck locks. Suffered myself recently.

While pulling the release handle, have someone continuously press the open button on the drivers door if it has central locking. Then hit the area where the lock is with the side of your fist as hard as you can repeatedly. So top left circa area of the door. This knock somehow forces the lock to open in most cases.

Then remove the lock ASAP.

Only other method is to smash the lock from the crevice where the window glass sits. I've seen posts on here showing how to.

if needed i'll have a replacement lock pm me

It's not just Skodas, seems to be a common theme among VW&Audi group cars.

Many suggestions include...

 - Wiring direct to the door loom to try to trigger the lock

 - drilling/milling out the side of the lock to access/flip the gears

 - various manipulation/banging and knocking hoping it's not completely broken.

 - Smash it to bits and remove the debris having first obtained a replacement.

Right I've got one in garage I did this other week.

You have to get the ba k cover off, I used a dremel on the lower back part but I couldnt release it either.

There is a cog you have to turn to release it. But mine span back.

I basically got fed up and pulled the rest of the cover open using a screwdriver, after that I turned the cog again and it released. Will get you a pic Tomoz if needed.

There is a shop on eBay I got mine from new, it's on for 27 there at min

Pic as promised
