New Exhaust making a noise

Featured Replies

On Monday I had a new back box and centre box fitted. I drove it Monday with no problem, on Tuesday morning I reversed it out of my drive with no problem but as soon as I drove forward there was like a booming noise coming from under the car but within seconds it was gone.

The booming noise only appears when engine is cold and driving forward but goes within seconds.

Anyone idea ?

Thanks .

So when the exhaust is cold too

Does it sound like blowing? Or rattling?

It's like a rattling noise. When I drive over the speed bumps near me it's silent.

It sounds like maybe the coupling between the two sections may now be secured correctly

Take it back to were it was fitted and get them to check it.

I was going to take the car to the garage this morning but Sod's law it didn't make the noise so I jacked the car up to check everything. The exhaust was solid, connected to all the rubber mounts correctly.

The heat shields connecting together under the passenger seat near side has come loose from the screw holding them together. I could spends hours or ££££ on taking up the rear carpets but could I glue the heat shields or clamp them together somehow ?

Thanks

Been to the garage , the join wasn't sealed . The rear of the exhaust was hitting the boot floor. Should be sorted now, I wish I went to the dealer and fit a skoda exhaust. How much would a original one cost ?

Still making a noise. I'm getting quotes for an OE exhaust , it'll teach me not to buy a cheap one !

I wouldnt bother mate so expensive off skoda a stainless exhaust would be cheaper and ive never had a problem with any ive had made
