Missing auto dimming mirror

Featured Replies

From April to June the online configurator was claiming that SE models included cruise control, light assistant and auto dimming mirror. When I ordered the dealer confirmed them to my online supplier. After the car was delivered I noticed that it didn't include the dimming mirror but when I complained the dealer insisted that one was fitted and wouldn't believe that I had the manual mirror until I sent photographs. This is their latest response:

"The car was subject to the enhancements during the model year change, this included Cruise Control and Light Assistant (though this is where problem lies) - The specification added by factory was parts of the light assistant not the full pack, which would have been a cost option. The enhanced specification included the light/rain sensor and daytime lights/coming home function, but not the auto dimming mirror. This is something that we were unaware of and can only apologies for this misunderstanding.

Unfortunately this is not a dealer fit option either".

Has anyone else ordered an SE during this period? What extras did you actually receive?

Lack of clarity from SUK on spec what a surprise......

Light assistant indeed normally carries the auto mirror too as a cost option but in the UK I am sure you have to take high beam assist or lane assist too.

With the SE you get standard 2 zone climate so you get the basic mirror but with the mirror holder that takes the climate systems obligatory humidity sensor. The holder can take a rain/light sensor too but was never fitted before.

All they have done is added the light/rain sensor and retained the same mirror and marketed as 'light assistant'.....which it is but would lead most to assume the auto dip mirror would be part of it too.

Annoying but bet no other late MY15.5 SE is any different. In any case nice to get the auto lights/wipers at technically no cost.

I had a similar issue for my 2014 Elegance. It was supposed to have 3 spokes steering wheel. Instead I got the dull 4 spokes, but the anti theft was included even if I didn't configure it.

As far as I can see SUK is by no means worse than SIT...

Hi Rodge,

I think I've ordered one of these 2015.5 MY SE models, so I'll let you know if I get an auto rear view mirror.

Dealer told me it was a pack that was free until June, inc mirror, light assistant, high beam assist, cruise and 3 spoke MFSW.

I wanted cruise so they discounted this whole pack for me.

Not a deal breaker, but maybe worth circa £150 refund for no auto mirror?

Rich

Thats poor on Skoda's part. Would expect some kind of compensation for it though, as even if there was a change I wouldn't have expected it to affect orders already placed (if coming direct from factory that is).

Give SUK a call and see what they say, they have always been helpful with me.

Indeed. If it hadn't been explicitly advertised (by the configurator and then confirmed by the dealer) as including the mirror I wouldn't have been bothered. But now I've been led to expect it I want one! And I'd rather have the mirror than the refund, but it looks like getting one fitted would be difficult.

I don't remember high beam assist being mentioned anywhere and I'm pretty sure I haven't got it, but I did get the 3 spoke MFSW which still had the 4 spokes at the time I ordered.

Funnily enough, my VRS which was delivered in early July has an auto-dipping mirror which was a nice surprise as I wasn't expecting it! I did think about paying for it as an option but it was only available as part of a package IIMC. I don't have high beam assist though!

Just seen my car and it doesn't have the auto dim rear view mirror or the high beam assist camera.

Its a manual mirror with auto wipers and lights sensor. My car was built 27th July WK 31.

Dealer has charged me for the light assistant, so I've asked them to refund me for the lack of the auto mirror and high beam assist.

Will see what they do....

Are you sure it doesn't have HBA?

There is a smaller camera for models without Lane Assist as standard built in to the mirror bracket.

So you had to pay for this light assistant pack?

But you havent received the full pack? Id be wanting the full pack refunded. In fact, me myself, the auto dimmer is a deal breaker, so id be refusing to take the car.

I can live without the auto dimmer, its not a deal breaker.

I took a gamble getting a car from stock, and not waiting the 12 weeks for a factory order.

They will refund me or give me some accessories to compensate, so I'm happy.

Its more that Skoda need to make customers and dealers aware that the spec is different on those models, and they wont get the full light assistant package, only a 'lite' version.

There were quite a lot of SE models available with this pack at Emden, so we may see this issue again from buyers.

All they have done is taken advantage of the fact the standard SE mirror base can accomodate a light/rain sensor because that spec already has 2 zone climate and so has the same mirror carrier as cars fitted with the auto dim mirror because of the humidity sensor. Was a v cheap and meaningful upgrade for them to implement on the SE.

Way id look at it.....was free equipment so whilst SUK didnt make it entirely clear those who ended up with it shouldnt have been charged for it (thise that have definitely pursue a refund)....also argubly whilst the auto dim mirror is nice its no great loss really. If they had of included it would have further diluted SE-L spec and I dont think SUK wanted to do that.

The VRS is supposed to have all the kit of the SE plus some extra bits. Mine was built I think in week 23 and has lane assist, dipping RVM, but not light assist. It has auto wipers as well which I don't think was listed on the spec either.

The latest brochure states that the VRS has "...Light assistant (coming home, leaving home, tunnel light), Rain sensor" and more as standard over SE.

When I got my car i thought I didn't get auto dimming mirrors and driving on highway at night was a nightmare all the lights blinding me from behind. Turns out I had it only didn't know. So I turned it on and was surprised how good it works cuz I forgot I had it on. It's a lifesaver last night.

The vrs has light assist but doesnt have high beam assist, its an option or can be enabled by someone with vcds

Dont believe you can have high beam assist unless you have the big camera behind the mirror.

At the time the Elegance/SE L had some extras of its own, including Adaptive Cruise Control and possibly Park Assist.

Skoda eventually came back to me, and quoted the Ts&Cs that I expected about how you can't believe anything you read on the website and how you need to check everything with your dealer. Except I did check with my dealer, so I reckon I would have been in quite a strong position if I had wanted to take it further. Anyway, they offered me "a gesture of goodwill" which I have accepted, as I obviously wasn't going to get a new mirror.

Given the replies some dealers come back with, I'd be surprised if they know what cars are coming with from one week to the next.  Half the time it seems SUK don't so the dealers have even less chance!

Our dealer was adamant he was going to sell SWMBO a Citigo Monte Carlo with ASG.  She was rather disappointed when they found out you can't get such a car (as I'd told her previously).  This was after they'd spent half an hour trying to find one in stock somewhere and somehow couldn't...

Got my car this morning. Definitely no high beam assist, just light and wiper sensor and auto lights. No camera behind the mirror just the light/rain sensor and no auto dimming mirror.

An yes, fair point. I have got light assist then. I was getting confused with main beam assist.
