Servicing and manufacturers warranty

Featured Replies

I've just had my monte tdi in for its 30k service at my local Skoda dealer today which is its third service, no filters have been changed other than the oil filter, oil, the headlight alignment has been checked and washer fluid filled.

Total bill was £217 which I thought was pretty steep!

I know I can get it serviced cheaper at a VW specialist I used for my vrs.

Has anyone had any issues in regards to warranty work when serviced by a non Skoda retailer?

3rd service, so previously having had a Minor & Major Service (Pollen Filter changed then. Major Inspection Service.)

They might not even change the Air Filter next time.

Have you had the wheels off and checked any time.

It is steep. £140 or so which is the usual price is steep.

So how did they get to £217.

Minor Service, Oil, Sump Plug, Washer Fluid, then how much to check the Headlights?

The Brake Fluid should be changed at 3 years old, and maybe £50 or so charged for that.

Not sure what it's had previously service wise without checking the service book.

They've scheduled the brake fluid for September when it's two years old, the headlight alignment was £18

I'll take a look at the receipt and post it up.

The Brake Fluid change was put to 3 years not at 2 years a few years back, but better safe than sorry,

but they could just do a test of the brake fluid to see the moisture content.

Is the car on Fixed Annual Servicing 9,400 (10,000 miles) 372 days,  or on Variable / Flexible Servicing?

You are as well to use a VW Dealership,

or a Independent that can even do VWG Warranty Work & Updates / Enhancements.

I thought the brake fluid was early as it's not even two years old yet!

I think it's on variable servicing but I'll be getting it done every 10k regardless of what schedule it's on.

Think I'll be sticking to my trusty VW specialist for future servicing.

Thanks for the advice

Booked mine in for next week - £120 for a minor service plus £89 for air con service and brake fluid change. I'm happy enough with that.
