Clio 1.5 dCi 100bhp

If you're not going to carry passengers then the Clio is a hoot. We have an 80bhp DCI in work and it absolutely flies, and by that I don't mean it has supercar performance on paper BUT it revs for England, is totally tractable and you can throw it around within it's rather limited chassis cababilities (don't expect it to have Clio 182 chassis dynamics - it doesn't) in short; it's huge fun up to a point and so I would imagine the 100 bhp one to be even more so. I expect you can pick them up quite cheaply but there are not that many around - most seem to be 80bhp versions.

My last car was a Megane 1.5 dci and it went pretty well but the same 80bhp engine in a clio is pretty nippy nevermind the 100bhp variant. The dci engines are very quiet and refined. These petrol car quailties IMO have unfortunately resulted in the car lacking the midrange pull and torque of a VAG engined car.

Quality wise comparing the 2 cars, the Clio is a bit lightweight and flimsy although that helps performance and economy. The 80bhp car will do over 65mpg combined. Not sure about the 100bhp version but expect at least 56 mpg.
