I have the vrs tsi and it's fantastic I love it! Plus I'm going away with the kids and a boot full if luggage tomorrow something most hot hatches aren't capable of!

I also have a Tdi vRS .. And yes... it is quick .. i had mine since Jan 2014

I wouldn't want to swap it for a Ford..

Not worth the money for the Columbus after the upgrade for the Amundsen in my 16

Bye bye Focus

   :moon:

Try a Tsi VRS with a DTUK tuning box and pedal, they're worlds apart from a standard VRS, with an extra 80'ish Hp and 60'ish Lbft of torque!

And as a bonus it doesn't leave a marker within the ecu  ;) .

I've often thought about getting it remapped after warranty with shark. However I've had 2 diesels done in past and they fried clutches for fun so I'm sort of scared with the vrs that remapping it will massively shorten it's life :( is 280 bhp and all that torque manageable with the standard manual clutch?

I've had the new Focus ST and I reckon it is on par with the VRS Tsi. The Octavia is more comfortable and is bigger for the family

Then your in a better position than all of this to comment haha! Just came across the link through a friend and thought I'd share haha!

Handling was spot on in the Focus though.

I did think it was a little boy racer ish TBH ( The Focus that is )

Excuse number 1.....It was a DSG......classic lol

That's what I think is funny about my vrs (family) car I can take the whole family and luggage somewhere drop them off then cracking it in sport mode and match the 22 year old boy racer who spends his entire wages on his (sports and performance) car on the way home! All rounder the Octavia is top notch!

Good engine with lots of torque...also suspect the Octavia is usefully lighter.

The Ford probably handles better stock but personally I am not a big Ford fan and think the Focus ST's styling is a bit gauche...not v tasteful. If I were to consider any current Ford a Fiesta ST Mountune would be alright :-)

Well as I've said in another thread, I was wondering what mine was really running at as it was quicker than my friends Focus ST (225bhp version).

My TSI was indicated at 246 bhp (depending on your calculation from the ATW figures) when we tested it, and much more torque (and over a wider band) than the ST.

He's just bought a Focus RS now, don't think I'd stand a chance there!

Wow... Answers my question really! Always said that these engines are well under rated, I actually think the (230) version has had absolutely nothing done to it! As it's 0.1 seconds quicker to 60 put has the diff that would alone make 1/10 th of a second! So that's 2 people on here now that's had them tested stock at 235 + I run mine on v power all the time so it's probably around that! I had a spirited drive on motorway coming off a 50mph section and flooring it and believe me if I was willing to go stupid with speeds I would have definitely win the battle! My friend also as a golf R and granted he would smoke me off start but as we approached a tractor when going to Glasgow last week I put it in 2nd and we got the all clear and blasted it past the tractor and there was defo not a lot in it! If anything I slowed slightly for a bend but he just floored it and let 4wd take over! Very very good cars the Octavia! That's why the golf with the same engine holds its own against much more powerful hot hatches!

The spirited drive on the motorway was with a 59 plate astra vxr
