Locked out of car

Featured Replies

Well this is akward. I have been having an issue with my drivers door that the garage I bought the car of is supposed to fix, but they havent.. Different story.. but now it seems I left my lights on and the battery is flat.. (another thing on my list.. fix buzzer)

- I cant open the door with the remote

- the only door that has a keyhole is the drivers door that is not working..

Any other ideas before I have a meltdown.. are these car openable in a other way..

It may be possible to jack the car up and attach jumpleads directly to the starter motor main battery positive form underneath, this should provide enough power to open the car without damaging anything.

Worst case is you have to take the undertray off to get at the starter but it's usually a sure fire win and so much cheaper than smashing a window.

Ive done it a few times, its not possible with a jumper cable as its too thick! I found that i managed it with some thick cable, saw the earth mounting point on the inner chasis leg and then the starter wire coming off starter motor. Used a charged battery and got my brother to press button on key. depending on how flat it is may take a minute holding wire on, alarm might start going off as well.

Good luck!!

The mechanic just did this but still not working. Looks like a windoweek smash

Are you in the AA, RAC or an independent, they may be able too.

DB.

Give the door lock a damn good spray and leave it overnight. Same for the boot of it has one.

The starter will be hard to get to the terminals on. You might have more chance at the alternator. You might be able to drop the positive cable off it and use that to hook power onto.

It is possible, wouldnt want to be putting a window through, may be it wasnt starter, it might have been alternator! Ive sorted my car about 4 times using this method so it can be done

Try Furniture polish on the key (or graphite if you fancy shaving the "lead" out of a pencil) - give it wiggle few times - don't do what most ppl do and spray wd40 in there! Washes away the grease and drys your lock out
