Does anyone have a guide how to remove the steering wheel & airbag safely please? Also does anyone have a workshop guide for the octavia 3?

Thanks in advance :)

You'll find the workshop manuals (different sections) from post 42 pinned above in this forum http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/273542-mk3-owners-workshop-manual-info/page-2

I don't know personally but do you have to remove the steering wheel to do this - may just be the the column shrouds. Also think it may need VCDS coded or activation by card as it wasn't a retro-fit until fairly recently.

Have you searched the previous posts here - this is the last one i can see / recall but loads of threads on this. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/340380-2014-octavia-vrs-cruise-control-installation/?hl=%2Bcruise#entry4306919  - looks like 300 quid from dealer but may depend if you have multifunction steering wheel

Thanks for your reply. Ive looked through the manuals in the post 42, excellent post but the full electrical system manual is not on there.

Does anyone have the full electical system manual?

Ive managed to get a second hand cruise control switch set and i know someone with vcds who can program it for me.

Sure you dont need to remove the wheel to replace the stalk.

Not sure if it can then be coded with VCDS.....there is now a dealer part that you order that comes with a one time use SD card that i believe is plugged in and codes the car for cruise...something like that anyway. Includes the correct stalk and fitting too I believe.

The steering wheel has to come off to access the stalk switches. The replacement set has both left and right stalks. Cruise control on left hand side and wipers on the right hand all installed in 1 unit.

I wasnt aware of the dealer sd card for coding, i thought this was all done by vcds.

Did you look through the attachments in post 47?

But as discussed probably needs dealer activation

Hi Exeterj, in post 47 i could only see 2 parts of the electrical system not the whole manual. Do you have the whole manual?

I have found this info about the access code to turn cc on - "The Cruise Control may need activating via the ECU, This is a 5 minute job & can be done with VAG-COM or VW diagnostic tool 1551, 5051 or a VW Dealer / Specialist in your area.

[select]

[01 - Engine]

[Login - 11]

Enter 11463 to activate cruise control

[Do It!]

16167 to De-activate cruise control"

Is this the activation code you mentioned?
