How to diagnose which CV joint is knocking

Featured Replies

Getting knocking coming from the drivers side when reversing on full lock. How do I diagnose which CV joint needs replacing?

Thanks.

The outside ones usually wear quicker than the inners due to the extra load they are under.

You could try turning the driveshaft with you hand and see if you can feel where the play is coming from.

Will give that a shot, thanks.

mine needs doing as well. Would you mine sharing the part(s) number you are getting?

Find a decent car park and drive round in a circle each way with your mate standing in the middle. It'll be loudest when the dodgy joint it on the inside.

I just called up TPS in Aberdeen. CV joint kit is £136, didn't get a part number, sorry.

ECP have them for sale from £25 and that's searching with inputting my reg number. Anyone any experience of using a ECP CV joint kit?
