Scout Towbar

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am trying to find a supplier for a Towbar for the new scout but with little success. One company advised me that it was not available due to the Scout being very high and thus the towbar does not meet

EU regulations. Has anybody got a new Scout with a Towbar if so what manufacturer is it and does it fit ok....

Don't have towbar on my Scout, but I am aware it has commendations from caravan enthusiast publications. Doubt they would endorse a car that could not be fitted with a legal towbar!

Got a factory fitted removable one fitted to my new scout. Also had quotes from local independents before finding mine with the factory one,so I don't see a problem.

Again got a factory fitted towbar on my scout, the height is not a problem and despite what the stealers may say all the pins on the electrics are connected, (The fridge in my caravan and my leisure battery charges whilst on the move no problem)

Don´t know wether you have a O2 or O3 but the manufacturer for factory towbar is the German company Westfalia. Look at this for info in UK  O3 towbar https://www.westfalia-automotive.com/uk/products/towbar/skoda-octavia-iii/305409900113-869/ . Hopefully this will help you. If there is a difference between std. Octavia and Scout it is probably the height of the hook on the towbar to compensate for the Scout beeing a bit higher ( At least this is the case for some Volvos ).

Good luck.

:D

Hopefully he wasn't a towbar specialist, if so then you have at least one company you can avoid like the plague.

He clearly isn't!

Yes that company was a Towbar and trailer specialist. Don't think they looked at westvalia... Thank you for your help. Does a swan neck interfere with the parking sensors?

The swan neck on its own, no. When something's plugged in to the electrics (bike rack, caravan, etc.) the system knows and you get a warning on the Bolero/Amundsen/Columbus and dash display.

Not if you have the electric done correctly.

Westfalia do a module that can be coded to allow full function of the cars systems.

Cool that is great. Wasn't sure if the ball would get in the way, yes I would expect the sensors to go off when something is attached as they did on my Fabia :-)

Sensors will be disabled when you plug the trailer into the electrics, if it's coded correctly.
