Aftermarket central locking

Featured Replies

Hello, I have aftermarket central locking fitted, (selca something or other - discontinued from maker and no longer available)
I have one fob, apparently to reprogramme a new fob for this particular central locking system you need a master (red) fob, alas i do not have the red one :(

and to make things worse the button just fell out of my fob :(

I'm not even sure where the control unit is located in the car to be honest... I know there are 4 motors, one for each door as i've seen the bodge job someone did fitting them when sealing my doors (they lost a bit, so they used cable ties and cut holes in the inner door panel - now fixed as best I could and now my doors locks dont jam!)

Ideally i'd like to "upgrade" to a flip key system and install a boot unlocker (I read some people have electronic boot opener)

now.... is it a case of snip n cut n splicey splice and its all gravy?

or do i have to replace the motors n such... or shud I just keep opening my doors with the key like i'm stuck in the 1980s?

Thank you o wisdomful people of briskoda

Buy an rclick kit with flip key, a boot solenoid and away you go ;) just need the blade cutting, swap chip from current key to rclick one and should work.

(kit, including genuine vw key shell)

(boot solenoid)

Wiring diagrams come with these kits, which are quite easy to follow. I fitted one a couple years ago and kt still works fine now, two remotes included and the range was ridiculously good
